Walters. This vibrant and resounding
collection enthusiastically welcomes our

three settings of very familiar hymn
tunes provide three moments of musical
celebration, exultation, and triumph!

Christ the Lord Is Risen Today (Jesus
Christ is Risen Today)—arr. Terre
Johnson. A hymn arrangement on Easter
Hymn for congregation, brass quintet, and
organ, with optional soprano descant and
timpani. The overall approach is sonorous
and lyrical, although fanfare-like passages
occur in the interlude before verse three
and in the final, fourth stanza (which has
the soprano descant.) A useful setting that,
while festive and stirring, is not excessively
showy or distracting.

Crowns is a great setting for congregational

Easter Carillon for Brass Quartet,
Timpani, and Organ—Robert J. Powell.
Easter Carillon is characterized by
successive shifts of tonalities one third
apart (B-flat to D or F to A-flat). During
the course of the piece, suggestions of
the traditional carillon tune appear in the
organ while the brass and timpani carry
on with the beginning music. If used
as an Easter prelude, the quiet ending
prepares the way for the joyfulness of
the first hymn. Reproducible pages for
instruments are included.

and enhances the majesty and power
of this musical celebration. Scored for
two trumpets, two trombones, tuba, and
organ with optional parts for French horn,
baritone, and percussion.

for a spirited Easter offering, this piece uses
the melody from the hymn tune Llanfair in
about every conceivable way: fragmented,

in the spotlight and plenty to do. Joyful fun
for players and listeners alike!

Litanie. The triumphant finish makes this
