Michael Sweeney. This one's a must! Glenn Miller's big-band classic is one of the best known tunes from the swing era, and this excellent arrangement puts it within reach of young bands. Comfortable ranges, easy rhythm patterns, and written solos make this an ideal choice to teach your students how to swing! 2314268 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . E 45.00 The Jody Grind—Horace Silver/arr. Mark Taylor. Enrich your jazz musicians with the music of Horace Silver with this arrangement of one of his most soulful blues tunes. Tenor sax 1 and trumpet 2 play the first statement of the head, creating the original sound before the alto 1 joins in. Expert scoring wraps the melody in hip figures and great ensemble hits. Solo changes for trumpet 2. 11617955 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 50.00 Leon's Neon—James Gagne. A hard-swinging chart with shifting grooves, hip sax soli, and written solo changes for alto sax, tenor sax, and trumpet. 11640147 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 Loose Canon—Paul Murtha. Highlight your sax section with this great F-minor blues chart. Hip swinging melodies wrapped in phat brass and rhythm section hits along with great unison brass writing on the bridge make this highly accessible while sounding far more advanced. Open solos for tenor sax, trumpet, and trombone. Lead trumpet plays A, lead bone plays F. 11593017 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 50.00 Moanin'—Charles Mingus/arr. Sy Johnson. This is an awesome Mingus double-time swing chart in the original version as recorded on Mingus Big Band 93. It kicks off with a hot bari sax intro, features some really tight licks, an extended open solo section, and an infectious bari sax line that drives the whole piece. Serious jazz for serious bands! 2388650 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 65.00 Nice Work If You Can Get It—George and Ira Gershwin/arr. Mark Taylor. Give your young jazz ensemble the opportunity to experience this classic standard by one of America's greatest songwriting teams. 11640156 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 50.00 Palm Beach Blues—Mark Taylor. Feature your star flugel player on this original swinging blues chart. Trombone and sax sections enjoy some amazingly hip soli, and open solos are available for guitar and tenor sax. 11640149 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 Sing, Sing, Sing—Louie Prima/arr. Victor Lopez. Yep, this is the Sing, Sing, Sing you know and love, made famous by Gene Krupa and the Benny Goodman Orchestra, but arranged here for young players. The classic drum solo that can be opened up for as much excitement as the crowd can stand, along with a written-out tenor solo, reasonable brass ranges and lots of meaty ensembles keep this great chart exciting. It will also sound full with reduced instrumentation or with the optional non-jazz band parts. It's still a showstopper! Highly recommended! 2702806 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . ME 52.00 Sugar (As Recorded by the Bob Florence New Edition)—Stanley Turrentine/arr. Bob Florence. A high-energy swing tune with fast tempo, layered horn writing, and bold solos. It builds gradually from rhythm section to full ensemble, with dynamic shifts, counterpoint, and shout choruses leading to a dramatic finish. 11637043 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 85.00 Things Ain't What They Used to Be—Mercer Ellington/arr. Alan Baylock. The style is down home and the solos are for alto, trumpet, trombone, and tenor sax. A powerful Baylock- style shout chorus and optional parts for expanded instrumentations are included. It's a fun chart and it gets our highest recommendation! 10513911 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 This Could Be the Start of Something Big— Steve Allen. This one burns! With clever shifts from swing to samba, trombone section features, hard swinging figures, a hip sax soli, and huge ensemble shouts, this one is the perfect showcase for your top-level jazz ensemble. Solos for alto sax, tenor sax, trombone, and drums. 11593025 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 Wise Up—Gordon Goodwin. A terrific swing- shuffle grove around 150 bpm – this chart is simply fun and hip. Solo space is provided for alto, tenor, bari, trumpet, and trombone, with sample solos provided for E-flat, B-flat, trombone, and C instruments – all very flexible. Each section gets to shine in this superb chart. Optional parts include flute, vibes, and percussion. This is a winner! 11619663 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 Work Song—Nat Adderley/arr. Erik Morales. Wow! If Nat Adderley could hear this chart on his iconic jazz standard, he would be pleased! The first statement stays very close to the original, which is a good thing. The solos are for written or improvised alto and trumpet, and the solo backgrounds are simply wonderful. This swinger plays well at about 176 bmp, has excellent full- ensemble passages, a bari sax and rhythm section break before the last chorus, an exciting shout chorus, and great development. This chart has it all! Our highest recommendation! 10513905 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 54.00 Thank you for helping us reach our 150-year milestone!
