Creatively set with syncopation and percussion throughout, this setting of the early 18th-century Burgundian carol centers around the playing of the drums within the lyrics of the song. The text is in English throughout, and the divisi harmonies and instructions for simple movement and body percussion make this exciting to perform. 11618479 SATB divisi or SSAATTBB . . . . 3.30 Personent Hodie—arr. Mark Burrows. In a truly ancient-modern setting, the 16th-century Latin chant from Piae Cantiones is arranged with a gorgeous harmonization and modern rhythmic elements and percussion. The traditional chant melody is present throughout, and the open harmonies are accentuated in a fresh and imaginative fashion. A wonderful choice for more advanced choirs for the Christmas season! 11618480 SATB divisi or SSAATTBB, w/ Perc. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.30 A Saint Nick Jazz Trio—arr. Michele Weir. Following up on her A Holiday Jazz Trio and A Christmas Jazz Trio, jazz educator Michele Weir returns with another solid trio offering for a cappella jazz choirs. Perfect for concerts or caroling with small ensembles or large choirs, these brief selections with no divisi can be performed individually or as a set. Part of the Beckenhorst Congregational Anthem Series, this lush setting works equally well as a simple SATB anthem with optional congregation, or a congregational hymn with extra beauty and choral descant. Optional flute and/or string quartet are available. 11621080 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.50 Snowfall—David L. Brunner. Ryokan's short poem on the beauty of snowfall was translated into English by Kazuaki Tanahashi and serves as the text for this subdued a cappella work for more advanced divisi choirs. Gentle dissonance and a slowly moving harmonic texture express the serene quiet of winter. 11618485 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.75 Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening—Eric Whitacre. One of Eric Whitacre's most well-known compositions, Sleep, is available now as it was originally composed in 2000, using the Robert Frost poem as its text. While the circumstances of Frost's text led to the creation of Whitacre and Silvestri's first beloved collaboration, this version with the winter-themed text offers the chance to perform and hear the music in a completely different light. 11618458 SATB divisi or SSAATTBB . . . . 3.40 There Is No Rose—Zebulon M. Highben. A buoyant a cappella setting of the traditional Christmas carol uses both English and Latin text. Interesting rhythms and options for soloists bring a lively madrigal feel. This award-winning composition is part of the Duke Chapel series. 11618292 SATB divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.90 Through the Shade—Blake Richter. Dealing with the subject of loss and grief during the holiday season, this incredibly meaningful work reminds us that hope and love "will guide us through the shade." Tender unison melodies and soothing harmonies let the text shine, while the piano accompaniment is supportive with a gentle motive that keeps it moving forward. 11618489 SATB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 3.10 Wexford Carol—arr. Elaine Hagenberg. This captivating arrangement of the familiar Wexford Carol with piano accompaniment becomes increasingly rich and textured with the addition of the optional oboe, percussion, and string quartet/ quintet. The Christmas story unfolds stanza by stanza with increasing intensity and quiet wonder, building to a truly wondrous finish. 11621069 TTBB . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.50 Winter Lullaby (Little Dear-My-Soul)—Luke Flynn. Sweeping, emotive choral lines envelop Eugene Field's well-known poem Christmas Eve in this beautiful lullaby setting from a Hollywood film score composer. Lush harmonies allow choirs to express their musical sensitivity, while the parts themselves remain accessible to a variety of choirs. A stunning choice for winter concerts! 11615645 SSA . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.60 Thank you for helping us reach our 150-year milestone! YEARS OF MUSIC S I N C E 1 8 7 6 Requiem for Colour A Journey Through Lament and Joy Jeffery L. Ames. Honoring the lives and legacies of enslaved people from 1619 to 1865 as well as contemporary Black martyrs who sacrificed for equality and freedom, this powerful choral and orchestral multimovement work is a strong statement of the resilience and complexity of Black American history. Blending idiomatic Black musical genres with Western European composition styles, it creates a unique and profound musical journey in 13 movements that traces the Black experience from West Africa through the Middle Passage, slavery, and sharecropping in the South to the civil rights movement and today's ongoing fight against racism and injustice. It features soprano and tenor soloists, a rapper, and a narrator along with the choir and full orchestra supplemented with African percussion. The libretto incorporates narratives from enslaved people, sharecroppers, and contemporary activists, offering an aesthetic experience that both commemorates and challenges. 11613879 SATB Choral Score divisi . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 24.99 11613879E SATB Choral Score divisi, eprint . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 28.80
