Ignite your next performance with this high-octane funk chart designed to showcase your tenor sax soloist. Packed with infectious grooves, a crisp and catchy melody, and punchy horn hits, it's a guaranteed crowd pleaser and an instant favorite for your students. 11671359 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 60.00 New Life—John Wasson. This medium- advanced jazz chart unfolds with a slow, ballad-like opening featuring soprano saxophone before easing into a relaxed bossa nova groove. Trumpets later shift to flugelhorns, softening the color and deepening the atmosphere. The laid- back pacing and stylistic contrast create a smooth feel, making it an effective change of color within any concert program. 11685292 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 65.00 The Opener (Flexible Instrumentation)— Craig Malcor. A great funky Opener for your next concert. 11621963 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 50.00 Placebo Effect—Erik Sherburne. A funk chart that includes 7/8 measures throughout – it literally skips a beat! 11621970 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 50.00 Poppin' and Lockin'—Joel Vanderheyden. An energetic funk chart pays homage to old- school hip-hop grooves of the 1980s and '90s. Syncopated rhythms and simulated record scratches drive the music with unmistakable style and flair. An open solo section over a simple minor progression allows any instrument to shine. A high- impact piece that gets audiences moving and makes a bold concert statement. 11687533 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 60.00 Running with Scissors—Gordon Goodwin. Running with Scissors is a very hip, funky groove chart played around 168 bpm. It's loaded with classic Gordon Goodwin flair, plus sample solos are provided for C instruments, E-flat alto or bari saxes, B-flat tenor, B-flat trumpet, and trombone. It begins as a nice, quiet funk groove, develops, and has great textural variation between the rhythm section and horns. The lead trumpet range is to written high C with an optional D. Included is an auxiliary percussion part and optional parts for flute and vibes. More accessible than many Gordon Goodwin charts, your band and its audiences will totally enjoy this one. Highly recommended! 10867429 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 54.00 Sensei Joe-Hen—Paul Baker. A tribute to jazz master Joe Henderson draws inspiration from his standard Recordame, placing tenor sax and trumpet in the spotlight. Choose it to honor a master of the craft while strengthening straight-eighth feel, balance, and confident soloists. 11684567 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 Show Your Work—Ryan Fraley. Blending rock intensity with a fusion edge, this advanced jazz chart feels fresh, driving, and just a little dangerous. Built on layered, looping patterns in 7/4, the groove is presented in a clear, consistent 4+3 notation that makes the meter easy to read and quick to internalize. The result is a modern, concise chart that delivers experimental energy without becoming overcomplicated. Despite its edge, the chart remains fun and playable throughout, giving the ensemble a chance to dig into something contemporary and distinctive while still connecting with audiences. 11687431 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 50.00 T.O.P. Adjacent—Gordon Goodwin. Here's a hyper funk chart with a groove that just goes and goes! In a nutshell, this is Tower of Power meets Gordon Goodwin. Solo space is provided for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet, trombone and various rhythm players. If you have the horses...climb aboard! 10997210 Jazz Ensemble . . . . A 70.00 Tell Me a Bedtime Story—Herbie Hancock/ arr. Alan Baylock. Don't miss this great chart that's an ideal candidate for festivals and contests! It's a funky, straight-eighth groove on a sensational composition comfortably laying at about 118 bpm. The tempo is laid- back, the lead trumpet range is up to written high D, and includes an improvised solo for tenor sax, plus there are a few easy meter changes. This is a winner in every respect! 10513942 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 60.00 There's a New Dog in Town—Rick Hirsch. The musical love child of Led Zeppelin, Thad Jones, and Gil Evans – this muscular piece has a wonderful dynamic arc that makes it great anywhere in a festival or concert set. Cut your rhythm section loose and feature your bari and trombone soloists. Rhythm section parts are notated as needed, and several alternate parts are included in the set. 11622316 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 62.00 Too Close for Comfort—Jerry Bock/arr. Gordon Goodwin. A Gordon Goodwin vocal chart! In addition to the vocal part, there are optional solo feature parts for alto sax, tenor sax, trumpet or trombone for added flexibility. Gordon has conceived this with the solo intertwined into the fabric of the chart. The vocal keys are F, G, and A-flat with modulations, and the vocal range is low E below middle C to E-flat fourth space. As recorded on The Phat Pack CD. An outstanding feature for your singer or any horn player! 10028186 Jazz Ensemble . . . . A 70.00 Tutu—Marcus Miller/arr. Michael Philip Mossman. In 1987 Miles Davis took home the Grammy award for best jazz instrumental soloist for his performance of this composition by Marcus Miller. From the album of the same name, Tutu is creatively arranged here for full big band in a sultry hip-hop fusion style similar to the original. Featuring distinctive modal style harmonies, and a few twists and turns, and solos for trumpet (naturally) and alto sax, this is sure to be a standout selection for any ensemble! 10461358 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 Tweet Fatigue—Gordon Goodwin. Gordon Goodwin wrote this superb chart for a good high school jazz ensemble to be played around 126 bpm with a straight-eighth feel and a rock groove. The saxes start things off a cappella then things heat up in a quirky, but clever Goodwin way. Solo space is provided for a variety of players with separate sample solos provided for C, B-flat, E-flat, and trombone soloists. An auxiliary percussion part plus all the usual optional parts plus vibes are included for augmented instrumentations. Here's your festival chart that's highly recommended! 10756402 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 52.00 Twists & Turns (V.2)—Patty Darling. A driving half-time funk groove defines this jazz ensemble chart delivering high energy without pushing brass ranges beyond comfort. The rhythm section locks in early, supporting a bold ensemble sound throughout. Solo features for piano and/ or trumpet provide flexibility while keeping focus on groove. A playable yet exciting selection when advanced groups want a modern funk feel with strong momentum and clear stylistic identity. 11686056 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 Us—Thad Jones. This funky rock classic is from the Thad Jones library, and it's Thad at his best...full of great energy and flawless orchestration! 546846 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 60.00 Whiplash—Hank Levy/arr. Erik Morales. Featured in the 2014 movie "Whiplash," depicting the relationship between an ambitious student musician and an abusive, yet respected instructor, this chart is a super-exciting work in 7/4 composed by Hank Levy and arranged by Erik Morales. Don't be intimidated by the meter... it's challenging, but after a few minutes it feels quite natural and the students will totally groove on it. The melody is stated by 2nd trumpet and 1st alto with solo space for both on easy chord changes. Articulation is critical and the rhythm section may want to spend some quality time together. The lead trumpet range is to written D above the staff. This is a unique but very desirable chart to have in your library. You won't regret playing Whiplash! 10068794 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 62.00 Pop Hits Very Easy 25 or 6 to 4—Robert Lamm/arr. Paul Murtha. This signature hit by Chicago has gone on to become a rock classic. This easy arrangement is playable with very limited rehearsal time, but still has an authentic and hard-driving feel. Included are optional solos or solis for any sax and any brass instrument. Suggested solos and scale/ chord sheets in all keys are included. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, it also includes a CD. Highly recommended! 10188529 Jazz Ensemble . . . VE 45.00 Ain't No Mountain High Enough—arr. John Berry. Recorded by such greats as Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross, and Michael McDonald, this rockin' Motown classic will sound great with your beginning players.
