Eric Richards. Although this was a pop hit back in the late 1960s, this familiar ballad lends itself nicely for jazz ensemble treated here as a jazz waltz. Scored to feature a solo trombone, alternate solo parts are provided for B-flat and E-flat instruments for added flexibility. This terrific setting features a driving style with solid hits for the full ensemble as well as feature spots for the brass section and also the saxes. 11172096 Jazz Ensemble . . . . M 55.00 Wise Up—Gordon Goodwin. A terrific swing- shuffle grove around 150 bpm – this chart is simply fun and hip. Solo space is provided for alto, tenor, bari, trumpet, and trombone, with sample solos provided for E-flat, B-flat, trombone, and C instruments – all very flexible. Each section gets to shine in this superb chart. Optional parts include flute, vibes, and percussion. The lead trumpet range is to high D. This is a winner! (5:30) 11619663 Jazz Ensemble . . . . M 55.00 Work in Progress—Gordon Goodwin. If you want to play original Gordon Goodwin charts but find them are too challenging, check this out! Composed and arranged by Gordon Goodwin specifically at a more accessible level, this medium tempo swing chart is outstanding! The lead trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff and there's an open solo section with written solos provided for E-flat, B-flat instruments and trombone. It's the Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band sound, but accessible for your band! 10277755 Jazz Ensemble . . . . M 52.00 Work Song—Nat Adderley/arr. Erik Morales. Wow! If Nat Adderley could hear this chart on his iconic jazz standard, he would be pleased! The first statement stays very close to the original, which is a good thing. The solos are for written or improvised alto and trumpet, and the solo backgrounds are simply wonderful. This swinger plays well at about 176 bmp, has excellent full-ensemble passages, a bari sax and rhythm section break before the last chorus, an exciting shout chorus, and great development. This chart has it all! Our highest recommendation! 10513905 Jazz Ensemble . . . . M 54.00 Blues & Swing Medium-Advanced Barnburner—Les Hooper. You guessed it, this chart is an up-tempo swinger! Les Hooper's arrangement will keep everyone moving forward with this original based on Rhythm chord changes. Solo spaces for tenor and alto plus an open solo section for all players and a hot shout chorus. Got to have this one! Highly recommended! 10049740 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 89.00 Basie-Straight Ahead (Professional Version as Recorded)—Sammy Nestico. Don't miss your chance to play this great chart exactly as the Basie band recorded it, unsimplified! Your band will meet the challenge with enthusiasm and be proud of the results. Not for wimps! 2233872 Jazz Ensemble Professional Version . . . . . . . . .MA 60.00 Black Hole Sun—Chris Cornell/arr. James Miley. James Miley presents a very hip arrangement of a great contemporary tune. Soundgarden's Black Hole Sun is masterfully scored for the modern big band, making great use of interesting saxophone effects, a wonderful rhythm section feel, neat rhythmic ideas, and very playable ensemble parts. The trumpet range is an optional written D. The melody is stated by tenor saxophone and trumpet with warm, dissonant backgrounds provided by the ensemble. The soloists can be as chosen for tenor saxophone, trumpet and/ or trombone, making this very flexible for the strengths of your band. 10455848 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 65.00 Canada by Rail—Paul Baker. Based on the chord progression from the Duke Ellington/ Billy Strayhorn classic Take the "A" Train, this chart opens with the train's arrival at the station, where it's "All aboard!" for a fun swinging adventure. Trombone and alto sax solos (written solos provided) are followed by trading fours between the brass and the bassist (written solos are provided here as well). A full-bodied shout chorus follows, including an 8-bar sax soli. Our musical adventure comes to a close with the train pulling back into the station with smiles all around. Trumpet range to written high D. Trombone to A. Written piano and bass parts are provided. 11621727 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 Clambake—arr. Rick Hirsch. An up-tempo tenor sax battle drives this chart built on a relentlessly catchy Bo Diddley groove and smokin' a cappella section choruses in the spirit of Maynard's Cruisin' for a Bluesin'. Tenor saxes trade sharp, high-energy lines, with the flexibility to feature lead alto if needed. Fully notated rhythm parts keep it accessible, while the irresistible groove and playful swagger make it an ideal closer for concert or festival sets. 11685069 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 62.00 Count Bubba—Gordon Goodwin. Here's a monster of a swinger that's designed to feature the entire ensemble. In addition to a wonderful riff-based theme and a very satisfying shout chorus, the chart includes section feature spots for saxes, trumpets and trombones, without the rhythm section. Very effective! 2471427 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 65.00 Curveball—Paul Baker. Featuring a tenor saxophone soloist, Curveball is in the style of the Ray Charles big band. It opens with huge ensemble brass and bluesy sax lines that switch in and out of a double-time swing feel. The navigation from swing ballad style, double-time feel, and true medium swing and the return to the original swing ballad style helps to define the chart throughout. A soulful melody for the soloist, which is written and improvised, is icing on the cake, along with an improvised solo and cadenzas at the end. Brass ranges: trumpet to written high D and trombone to written G. This is a real powerhouse chart for the entire band and an important addition to the tenor sax solo repertoire! 10999408 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 Dust Storm—Ben Morris. Up-tempo swing drives this advanced big band chart packed with technical ensemble work and opportunities for confident improvisers. The style carries a clear Western-influenced character with its complex melodic lines and harmonies. A strong fit for advanced high school or college groups looking for a demanding, high-energy challenge. 11673263 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 86.99 Giddyup!—Rick Hirsch. Better big bands will have a great time with this chart that features a catchy, upbeat swing groove with a hip-hop vibe. There are idiomatic melodic and rhythmic themes in all the horn sections which keep returning, thanks to a uniquely modified rondo form. The improvised solos are scored for tenor and trombone and the brass ranges are moderate for this difficulty level. Come on, let's go! 10844009 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 60.00 I Can't Stop Loving You—arr. Quincy Jones. Every jazz fan knows it, loves it and has wished it was in print! And now, this quintessential big-band arrangement is finally available! As recorded by the Count Basie Orchestra on their album This Time by Basie: Hits of the 50s & 60s, Quincy Jones' arrangement of I Can't Stop Loving You will bring your audiences to their feet. Beginning with the Count's rubato piano tremolo, this laid-back shuffle chart features in-your- face ensemble writing at its finest. There is short, written-out solo space for trombone and piano, but mostly this chart simply swings its tail off with the entire ensemble from beginning to end! Never has a sad song sounded so happy! Very highly recommended! 10368505 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 In a Hurry—Christian McBride. Bring the energy and sophistication of one of jazz's most dynamic voices to your classroom. Erik Morales. A standard performed by all the jazz greats. This light swing chart arranged by Erik Morales has a mysterious yet exciting character as it changes grooves from swing to Afro-Cuban, then a faster swing. Check out the fine solis for saxes, trumpets, and trombones! The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff. Power and excitement in a dynamic chart! 11355034 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 52.00 Jeannine—Duke Pearson/arr. Mike Dana. The lead trumpet range is to written high C. An optional vibraphone part is included. 10452154 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 60.00 Love for Sale—Cole Porter/arr. Dave Mills. Up-tempo swing fuels this medium jazz ensemble chart that pays homage to the power of the Buddy Rich band as it reworks a Cole Porter standard. Big ensemble hits, drum fills, and relentless momentum keep the energy high, supported by ad- lib solos for alto and tenor saxophone. A strong choice for reinforcing fast swing feel, ensemble precision, and rhythm-section intensity in performance. 11686028 Jazz Ensemble . . .MA 55.00 BEST SELLERS Blues & Swing Medium-Advanced Best-Selling Charts!
