Finale from Symphony No. 3—Gustav
Mahler/arr. Frank Lestina. Slow, passionate
lyricism anchors this string arrangement
drawn from the Finale of Mahler's 3rd
Symphony. Rich orchestration remains
faithful to the original while demanding
sustained dynamic control and careful
balance to achieve its mature sound.
Expressive intensity builds through long
lines and gradual climaxes. A compelling
concert selection for ensembles ready
to explore depth, control, and emotional
weight within a celebrated symphonic work.

Copland/arr. Stephen Bulla. Everyone
knows this one! Hoedown has become a
classic American symphonic work, and its
unique sound has become a trademark
of composer Aaron Copland. This fine
edition has been carefully crafted for string
orchestra, allowing developing groups to
experience the joy of performing one of the
most popular works of the 20th century.

whole lot more! This exciting, familiar work
will give new life to your rehearsals and will
be a standout at any concert. Enjoy!

Hungarian Dance No. 1—Johannes
Brahms/arr. Carrie Lane Gruselle. Brahms
captures the fire and passion of Romanian
culture in these folk songs set to dance
styles. Intensity and drama is created
with dynamic exaggeration, abrupt tempo
changes, and contrasting bow styles. An
excellent way to encourage students to
listen and watch the conductor as they
engage with all the wonderfully rich sections
of the piece.

Introduction and Dance from Orfeo—
Claudio Monteverdi/arr. Richard Webb.
This arrangement invites orchestra
students to explore a range of key centers,
meters, and articulations through engaging
material shared across the ensemble.
It also introduces the music of an early
Baroque master rarely encountered
in school settings, allowing players to
experience harmonic language and chord
progressions that predate the later Baroque
style. The result combines technical variety
with valuable historical perspective in a
compact, educational setting.

Isacco Overture—Marianna von Martines/
arr. Zachary May. This allegro is the
first of three sections of Marianna von
Martines' overture from "Isacco Figura del
Reddentore". It features buoyant interplay
of the violin sections, compelling harmonic
development in the low strings, and hooked
and spiccato bowings characteristic of the
classical era. The optional timpani part
adds brilliance, power, and authenticity to
the arrangement, making this an excellent
program opener or closer.
11668620 String Orchestra . . . M 65.00
Jupiter (from "The Planets")—Gustav
Holst/arr. John Caponegro. This
arrangement of Jupiter is a challenging
piece for medium and medium-advanced
groups. While not quite contemporary
in style, the piece is modern enough in
concept to allow students the chance to
experience alternate treatments of themes
and motifs. A perfect concert piece for any
performance venue.
10063892 String Orchestra . . . M 70.00
La Bella Cubana—Jose White/arr. Robert
Debbaut. In addition to numerous etudes
and a virtuosic violin concerto, violinist
Joseph (José) White Lafitte composed
this habanera for two violins. In this string
orchestra arrangement, the lyrical melodic
solos are spread throughout the orchestra.
Traditional Cuban dance rhythms in the
middle theme capture the vibrant joy of the
original work.
11500301 String Orchestra . . . M 65.00
La Forza del Destino Overture—
Giuseppe Verdi/arr. Michael Hopkins.
This arrangement captures the full range
of thematic contrasts and emotion present
in the original and will be challenging and
rewarding for developing orchestras. Verdi
intended the agitated theme of the opening
to represent fate, and it unifies many
different thematic ideas in the overture. A
musical metaphor for the force of destiny
- chaotic on the surface yet logical and
coherent in the depth of its design.
11171008 String Orchestra . . . M 56.00
Maelstrom—Katie O'Hara LaBrie. A
treacherous storm motif acts as the
undercurrent to quotes from famous water-
themed compositions, including Smetana's
Die Moldau, the haunting Aquarium from
Saint-Sans' Carnival of the Animals, and
a traditional Irish sea chantey as melodies
overlap in this musical storm. Developing
players will refine articulation skills while
navigating some shifting, chromatic lines,
and a variety of rhythms in 6/8 time.
11202201 String Orchestra . . . M 65.00
March of the Marionette—Charles
Gounod/arr. Caryn Wiegand Neidhold.
This familiar sneaky theme was originally
composed for solo piano by French
composer Charles Gounod in 1872 as a bit
of a joke about a particular music critic. The
mysterious and foreboding motif has since
been used in film and TV, most notably as
the theme for the show Alfred Hitchcock
Presents. This string orchestra arrangement
skillfully weaves the ominous melody into all
sections, retaining the original D minor key
with the traditional change to the parallel D
major in the middle. Players will experience
various accidentals in 6/8 meter, with
minimal shifting in first violin and cello. With
the ghostly whimsy of a danse macabre,
this scary classic is perfect for your fall or
Halloween concert!
11559092 String Orchestra . . . M 70.00
Marche Slav—P.I. Tchaikovsky/arr. Carrie
Lane Gruselle. Tchaikovsky's most famous
march exemplifies the spirit of 19th century
nationalism as it was growing in Europe.
This exceptional arrangement set in A minor
(a more comfortable key than the original Bb
minor) has all the elements of the original
and lets your orchestra shine without the
need of winds and percussion. A dramatic
and memorable addition to any concert!

Melody (from Three Short Pieces)—
Samuel Coleridge-Taylor/arr. Robert
Debbaut. Violinist and composer Samuel
Coleridge-Taylor was known for embracing
the previously unexplored song and dance
forms from his father's native West Africa
and incorporating them into his own very
European art music. The simply titled
Melody is taken from Three Short Pieces for
Organ, a set of lyrical pieces with tuneful,
songlike qualities.

Music from Carmina Burana (O
Fortuna)—Carl Orff/arr. Stephen Bulla.
One of the most recognizable movements
of the 20th century, Carl Orff's grand
work for chorus and orchestra has been
brilliantly adapted with this first-ever edition
for string orchestra. Let your students enjoy
the power and grace of this symphonic
masterwork!

Night on Bald Mountain—Modest
Mussorgsky/arr. Carrie Lane Gruselle.

authentic while remaining extremely
playable, this setting offers the opportunity
to explore one of the most well-known
pieces in the repertoire.

Nimrod—Edward Elgar/arr. Mitchell
Bender. This ninth variation from Elgar's
"Enigma Variations" is the most played
and most beautiful of the variations. Due
to its overwhelming expressive quality,
it has become England's counterpart to
Adagio for Strings, being played when
music of great emotion and dignity is called
for in that country. This fine arrangement
moves the key center from Eb to the more
string-friendly D. With some very nice divisi
writing, this makes an ideal choice for any
string orchestra, and especially nice for
larger or combined string orchestras.
2471555 String Orchestra . . . M 70.00
O Magnum Mysterium—Morten
Lauridsen/arr. Sandra Dackow. First it was
the choral masterpiece from Lauridsen.
Then it took the instrumental world by storm
as a concert band arrangement. But it has
never been available for strings - until now!
A serene and expressive composition, the
fluid lines and lovely harmonies will both
challenge and engage your performers.
10023619 String Orchestra . . . M 85.95
Overture from The Thieving Magpie
(La gazza ladra)—Gioachino Rossini/arr.
Carrie Lane Gruselle. One of Rossini's most
memorable and exciting opera overtures.
After an aggressive and militaristic
introduction comes the drama and intrigue
surrounding a story centered on the theft
of a silver spoon! Students explore a full
range of expression and bow strokes in this
expertly orchestrated arrangement.

Pastorale (from Concerto Grosso,
Op. 6 No. 8 "Christmas" Concerto)—
Arcangelo Corelli/arr. Brandon Bangle.
The famous movement is brought to life
in this accessible arrangement. Great for
reinforcing 12/8 time as well as broadening
your students' repertoire. Perfect for your
next holiday program or even contest!
11403527 String Orchestra . . . M 65.00
Pavane for a Dead Princess—Maurice
Ravel/arr. Jeremy Woolstenhulme. This
absolutely stunning arrangement of one
of Ravel's most beautiful works gives
advanced string orchestras the opportunity
to perform with maturity and elegance. It
features particularly exquisite moments
for solo violin. A required piano part is also
included.
11563663 String Orchestra . . . M 70.00
Peer Gynt Suite (No. 1, Op. 46)—Edvard
Grieg/arr. Carrie Lane Gruselle. The "Peer
Gynt Suite" themes are among the most
recognizable in classical history - many
of us have Saturday morning cartoons
to thank for the initial exposure. This
arrangement of the four movements by
Gruselle contains: Morning Mood; Aase's
Death; Anitra's Dance and In the Hall of the
Mountain King.
