they will mourn for Me as one mourns for an only child,
and grieve bitterly for Me as one grieves for a firstborn."

am one of the people who lined the streets earlier in
I
the week, waving palms and shouting, "Hosanna!"—
calling this Man blessed. But I stood before Pilate this
morning and demanded with the rest of them that He
be sentenced to death. Even Pilate didn't believe He
was guilty of any crime. He told us, "I am innocent of
this Man's blood. It is your responsibility!" But we all
answered, "His blood is on us and our children!" We are
all guilty, Pilate included, for what we witnessed here
today. I can't believe that in a few short days, we turned
from praising Him to condemning Him. He looked
directly at me before He died, with forgiveness on His
face. I couldn't bear to meet His eyes, to see the agony, to
see what I had done.
