Ballads all lev els A ngel Eyes—Earl Brent & Matt Dennis/ arr. Dave Wolpe. Here is a natural pairing of ballad style with an exceptional standard as a tenor saxophone feature. Beautifully arranged, this chart features lush harmonies, a double-time swing section, and a nice sax section soli with tenor lead. The tenor solo is completely notated and does not require improvisation, although it could be added. The lead trumpet range is to B above the staff, and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations. Simply gorgeous! 10303786 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 4 ack in Time—Pat Metheny/arr. Bob B Curnow. Pat Metheny is known for his beautiful melodies, and Back in Time is no exception. Featuring a flugelhorn or trumpet soloist throughout on a written out solo with chords included for improvisation, this arrangement is very playable by the ensemble with its moderate ranges. Originally recorded on the re-issued Secret Story CD, this arrangement is a great addition to Bob Curnow's continuing reflection on Metheny's music. There are no range or rhythmic problems for either band or soloist in this beautiful ballad solo feature for alto sax or trumpet, just a pretty melody over lush chords and counter-lines, with lots of dynamic contrasts. At around 86 bpm, this swing ballad features the lead trumpet and harkens back to the big band era sounds of Glenn Miller and Harry James, along the lines of Miller's Serenade in Blue. In addition to written melodic solos for lead trumpet, there's an improvised solo for tenor sax, along with wonderful writing for the saxophone section. Winding through two key modulations, each distinct section is presented in its best register. Trumpet range is to written high D. Trombone range is to Gb. 10369419 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 4 ridge Over Troubled Water—Paul Simon/ B arr. Alan Baylock. Arranger Alan Baylock delivers his distinctive, lush and in-demand ballad style to this wonderful song in a more contemporary setting. It's set at 92 bpm, there are no individual solos, just delicious harmony throughout. The trumpet section frequently carries the melody and the lead trumpet range is to written high C. There are optional parts included plus vibraphone for expanded instrumentations. Sensational ballad! Highly recommended! 10355580 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . Europa is a terrific rock ballad for your tenor sax soloist with no improvisation, and is all written and they just don't get any better than this. The features include a lead trumpet range to written D fourth line, lots of unison ensemble passages plus optional flute, clarinet, auxiliary percussion and vibes parts. A fail-safe tenor showcase that is a huge confidence builder. Our highest recommendation! 10355586 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . ME 44.00 4 Dreamed a Dream (from "Les I Miserables")—arr. Roger Holmes. Here's the touching ballad from the landmark musical and recent motion picture "Les Miserables" in a nicely paced and solidly scored arrangement for younger jazz ensembles. With no solos, it's a beautiful change of pace for any performance occasion. Highly recommended! 10374174 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . ME 45.00 4 'm Getting Sentimental Over You—arr. Rick I Hirsch. Here's a wonderful update of Tommy Dorsey's classic theme song. It's totally playable by high school jazz bands, yet it also sounds great with college and professional groups. It's written as a trombone feature throughout (with optional solo parts included for B-flat and E-flat instruments), although super-high Dorsey-esque chops are not required. The solo is mostly written with a section of improvising around the melody and ad lib fills at the end. Alternate solo parts for trumpet and saxophone are included, as well as optional parts for Clarinet, Flute, Vibes, and French Horn (doubling the Trombone 1 part). It's Just I You and Me is a slow-swinging original that is playable by almost any band.
