FOLLOWER - III (Peter):
What emotions we all felt as we left that supper and followed Jesus to
the Garden of Gethsemane!

As we entered the shade of those olive trees, it was with a horrible
sense of foreboding. We loved our Master so dearly. Yet, that night, it
seemed that any efforts we made to show our love for Him, or to
protect Him from danger, had the opposite effect. All Jesus asked us to
do was to wait—to watch with Him while He prayed. Yet, every time
He prayed, we fell asleep. We felt such shame! And I—I, who so
wanted to follow our Lord's teaching—I, who had vowed to never
betray Him—I acted the most shamefully of all by the time that night
was over. That beautiful garden—the place that had provided peace
and comfort for us in the past—had now become a place of evil, a place
of sorrow… and a place of love.
