The tempo can be anywhere between 132 - 150 bpm and there is a written trumpet 2 solo. There's plenty of swingin' ensemble, a great sax section soli plus optional parts for flute, clarinet, vibes, horn, baritone horn, and tuba. Add in trumpet plungers and sliding trombones and it's all great stuff! 10353493 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . . . . . . . ME 44.00 4 I'm Just Sayin'—Jim Mahaffey. If you're looking for a funky "in-your-face" shuffle, this chart fits the bill! Based on a 16-bar blues variation, it features a down 'n dirty loose shuffle feel, active ensemble passages and an open solo section over 16-bar blues changes. An effective highlight is a horns only section without the rhythm section after the solos. Rich DeRosa keeps this Count Basie signature tune swinging all the way and includes two optional tag endings to keep the Basie style intact. Mack the Knife swings! At a tempo around 120 BPM, this wonderful swing chart is a great choice for young players. Look for clear and accurate rhythm section writing, optional vibes, flute, clarinet, horn, baritone horn and tuba parts are included. Greg Yasinitsky. Greg Yasinitsky has set Charlie Parker's great bebop tune to swing at about 172 - 200 bpm. Featuring plenty of excellent sax section solis, brass solis, solo spaces (suggested written solos included) for tenor sax, and piano, this is fine big band swing chart on a great tune. The lead trumpet range goes up to written B-flat above the staff and optional flute and vibraphone parts are included. This is essential jazz repertoire, and this chart is very highly recommended! 10355616 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . . . . . . . MA 48.00 l Rush Hour—Lennie Niehaus. A solidly scored, moderate tempo swing chart, Rush Hour features interesting material, development and motives for advancing ensembles. Also featured are conversational exchanges between the ensemble and drummer as well as an open solo section with solo sheets included for C, E-flat and B-flat instruments. Swings great and plays smooth! 10431428 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 H Sing, Sing, Sing—trans. Mike Lewis. Here it is... perhaps the most recognizable swing tune of all time! This incredible transcription is as close as you're going to come to the original (which included clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass). This chart is scored for a standard 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm, but aside from that, it is the original as played by Benny Goodman. Every lick is there, including all the Gene Krupa drum breaks! This chart is a must for every big band's library! 2411486 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . . . . . . . . M 55.00 H Take the 'A' Train—Billy Strayhorn/arr. Gassi. This chart swings all the way and is very playable by a young jazz ensemble. Arranger Vince Gassi offers a fresh take on this classic, yet captures the essence of this well-known Strayhorn composition made famous by Ellington. It's scored exactly right for younger players... not too difficult but with fun- to-play parts. With brief written solos for 1st alto sax and 1st trumpet, and easy ranges, it also has plenty of dynamics to teach. A superb chart you will play for years to come! This is a jazz classic that every band should have in their library. The chart is a swing shuffle played at around 116 bpm and has a very familiar and catchy melody that flows smoothly from section to section. Also featured are written out solos for alto sax 1 and trumpet 2 and a lead trumpet range to written F-sharp top line. Optional parts are included for expanded instrumentation. A superb arrangement that is clever and effective in every way! 10355626 Jazz Ensemble. . . . . . . . . . . . ME 44.00 4 Top Dog—Gregory Yasinitsky. Top Dog is an up-tempo, high-energy blues with an emphasis on ensemble work. Additional features include a "horns alone" chorus, a swinging saxophone soli, a suggested or improvised solo for 2nd trumpet, and a roaring shout chorus followed by a big ending.
