recommended tempi, the musical runs overtime
and finishes closer to 30 minutes. Centering on the
great characters and themes of faith, and injecting
some humor on the way, this can be performed
with simple costuming, props and sets and is a
delightful way to survey the Old Testament with
Sunday School programs, summer camp, or as a
youth project any time through the year.

This musical features Jesus played by
a number of different actors - one for each parable.
The parables included are the wise man and the
foolish man, the good Samaritan, the mustard
seed, the parable of the vineyard, and the prodigal
son, which is the centerpiece of the musical. The
musical concludes with a dramatic presentation
of the crucifixion and the resurrection. The Easter
theme makes it an ideal spring selection, while
the parables make it fitting for any season. When
performed in its entirety, the musical runs 40
minutes, but can easily be adapted to 30 minutes,
or even split into several parable segments of 10
minutes or less. Originally designed for grades
4-8, the material will appeal to older and younger
groups as well.
