Deck the Halls with 'Bones and Saxes—arr.
Andy Clark. Spice up your Christmas perform-
ances with this easy swing chart on this familiar
holiday classic. The style will remind you of Little
Brown Jug with traces of In the Mood thrown in
for good measure. There are no solos, just lots of
solid swinging from everyone. It's not hard and
it won't take much rehearsal time and features a
soli section for the saxophones and lots of solid
ensemble sounds. It will also sound just fine with
reduced instrumentations. A winner!

A Christmas Fantasy for Jazz Band—
Paul Clark.
This very creative arrangement
based upon What Child is This? and O Come,
O Come Emmanuel will make a wonderful
addition to holiday concerts. With very few
exceptions, the horn parts amazingly never
play anything more complicated than quarter
notes and the ranges are very reasonable, yet
the sound is huge and impressive. For musical
contrast, there are short written solos for piano, alto, trumpet, and a short duet for both altos
accompanied by a driving, "steamroller" rock feel. It's also playable with an optional reduced
instrumentation of 3 saxes, 3 trumpets, 1 trombone and 3 rhythm. Totally awesome!
