Puzzle Pieces is a minimalist work that allows the performers to be part of the composition process. Rather than a traditional score and parts, each player is given three sets of measures and a final measure. Once the conductor sets the tempo, each player decides which measure(s) to play out of each set and for how long. As they progress, the measures become more intense rhythmically until the conductor cues the final measure and all players end the piece in unison. Clever, fun and creatively inspiring! 10289360 Percussion Ensemble . . . . . 20.00 n Quasi Bossa NovaClark Owen. Set-up guides and helpful instrument substitutions make this package the quintessential educational tool for teaching and motivating the young percussion ensemble. The package includes a conductor's score and six individual part books, plus an instructional video CD- ROM on how to play all of the hand percussion instruments scored in the ensemble. 5820295 Percussion Sextet with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . 85.00 n Seaside StrollKandis Taylor. Although the melody is deliberately repetitious, its tuneful nature will hold the performers' and listeners' attention. Known for their creativity in percussion, our newest best-selling ensembles from Tapspace. Continuum—Ian Briskey. Written to convey a progression of continuous motion, this relatively short piece provides percussion quartets with numerous opportunities to demonstrate musicality. Be it through extreme dynamic ranges, demanding rudimental control, and ensemble timing and blend, the range of musical touches will be enjoyed by players and listeners alike. 10435055 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .MA 33.00 Funkadunk—Scott Higgins. This mixed-meter jam for percussion ensemble does masterful things with timbral interplay without losing any of its forward motion or rhythmic creativity. The triangle part underpins more disjunct figures in the toms and bass drum, with wood block hits punctuating the alternation between 5/8 and 6/8 bars, or between 2, 3, and 4/4 later in the piece. For everyone's sake, let's hope that no one tries to clap along at your concert. The audience can just save their clapping for the end of this fantastic bit of fun and funk! 10435062 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . A 5.00 Lattes on the House—Chris Roode. Lattes on the House is an introductory piece written to teach the application of beginning rhythms to a percussion ensemble. Written for three sizes of conga drums along with claves and tambourine, this five player instrumentation can be easily expanded by doubling or tripling up on each part. Various sizes of frame or hand drums can be effective in place of the congas. The ensemble develops grooves together and struts its stuff building to a lengthy solo section. You bring the espresso, have the students bring the steamed milk, and in no time you'll be enjoying Lattes on the House. 10435067 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . E 30.00 Mah-Na Mah-Na—Piero Umiliani/arr. Christopher M. Retschulte. Mah-Na Mah-Na, written by Italian composer Piero Umiliani, is a nonsense song that achieved widespread fame as a classic Muppet sketch. Flexibly arranged for as few as eight players or as many as 14 players, this arrangement preserves the catchy melodic material and enhances the upbeat style with vocalizations, birdcalls, hand claps, and vibraslap. It even includes a solo part that gives you the option of allowing a band director or guest artist the chance to perform with the group. An entertaining addition to any percussion ensemble concert. 10435065 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .ME 40.00 Parade of the Penguins—Stuart P. O'Neil. This original for percussion ensemble is very metered, but don't let its march-like quality fool you. This is a jovial piece that will have wide appeal. The writing is very well balanced between the melody in the keyboard parts and the contributions from the nonpitched instruments. This creates a more sophisticated piece than is sometimes heard at this level, and offers any number of teachable moments with your ensemble. 10435068 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .ME 35.00 Upbeat Suite—P.I. Tchaikovsky, Modest Mussorgsky & Georges Bizet/arr. Brian Slawson. Upbeat Suite is an arrangement for percussion quartet of three orchestral excerpts that share common rhythmic elements of upbeat, or 2-beat, feels: Dance of the Little Swans by Tchaikovsky; Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks by Mussorgsky; and, from "Carmen," Danse Boheme by Bizet. Their cheerful nature dictates a light, bouncy style and is enhanced by the use of grace notes and appoggiaturas. A frequent arranger of classical themes, Slawson is adept at capturing the character of the original while still writing idiomatically, and in this case accessibly, for small mallet quartet. This is a rare marriage that will have you thinking "Suite" thoughts of your developing ensemble. 10435072 Percussion Ensemble with CD-ROM. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
