This "two feel" original swing chart is really something to smile about and sounds like it came striaght from The Great American Songbook! It's basically a conversation between alto sax, trombone and piano with three distinct melodies all happening at the same time. The piano solo breaks as well as the solo section can be played as written or improvised. A sax section soli after the solo section includes the trombone player in the sax section adding to the quality of the sound. This cool shuffle chart has many typical shuffle features including the high hat pattern for drums, the 1-6- 5-6 pattern for bass, and the four measure lead-in to the solo section. It's also a great way to teach your band about trading twos. The ensemble trades twos many times throughout the chart, and there's a little twist in the structure of the 12-bar blues pattern and occasionally there's a 16-bar pattern thrown in for fun. There are clever ensemble interludes and a shout chorus to round out this swingin' chart for little big band. A medium bright swinger at around 160 bpm at the medium grade level, this dynamic chart is scored for tenor sax, trumpet, trombone, piano, bass, guitar, and drums. This funky original is a great example of the 16-bar blues form, in a minor key! The bass part is simplified, the drum part is simplified, and the keyboard fills and solo are completely written or can be improvised...all included as a formula for success. Let your pianist/ organist romp on this chart! Use the rock organ stop on a digital piano to get that great Hammond B-3 sound, but don't get hurt carrying in those Leslie speakers! The rhythm section parts are written out so players can find a nice groove by simply playing the parts as written. The open solo section has chord symbols provided for all wind players as well as a suggested solo written for tenor sax. More accessible than many, it's set at about 100 bpm. This up-tempo Latin chart includes parts for a 4, 5 or 6 horn jazz combo as well as many additional parts that can be used to mix and match the horn section to achieve the desired sound. This chart also includes an optional conga drum part for an added "Latin" feel.
