Victor Lopez' arrangement of this great tune by Denis DiBlasio is a more accessible version than the original. At a medium grade level with an upbeat samba groove, everybody gets some action with the classic Maynard Ferguson trumpet solo harmonized for the trumpet section in a playable range. There is a sax section soli that can also be a solo for bari sax or any saxophone. An optional percussion part will complete the package. Made famous by Gloria Estefan and The Miami Sound Machine, this Latin work is sure to be an exciting highlight of any performance. After a short introduction by the saxes and rhythm section the rhythm section continues to establish the groove until the whole band enters with the hot melody and accompaniment. Every section gets a change to shine and there is a section where the lead trumpet can solo on a written part, or the entire trumpet section can play it as a soli. The title of this vibrant Latin/rock original for advancing groups refers to the close professional and personal association shared by Chuck Mangione and Gerry Niewood during their many years of working together. Opening and closing with flugelhorn (or trumpet) and soprano (or alto) sax solis, the chart features optional solo space for all and a montuno section that spotlights the ensemble. A fiery Latin Afro/Cuban songo with a unison sax melody sets up the high energy level for this chart. The suggested or improvised solos are for trumpet 2, trombone 1 and drums, and the lead trumpet range is to written B-flat above the staff with an optional D. The baritone sax and bass trombone players both get a lot of action in the interlude. The title really hits home, because this one does not stop! Highly recommended! This authentic Brazilian style bossa original is ideal for change- of-pace programming. The gentle, yet syncopated rhythmic content is coupled with rich harmonies. All sections have interesting parts to play and the rhythm section parts are completely notated with chord symbols provided. As is or ad lib solo space is included for alto sax 1, tenor sax 1, trumpet 2, and trombone 1. As in most of Jarvis' offerings, frequent articulations and dynamics are included for the horns and the rhythm parts are meticulously crafted to ensure the rhythm section faithfully captures the authenticity of the Brazilian grooves. 10367838 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 H Feels So GoodChuck Mangione/arr. Victor Lopez. Only rarely does a jazz tune cross over to the pop charts the way this Chuck Mangione classic did back in the seventies! Flugelhorn solo on the 1st trumpet part is featured throughout with the distinctive melody and then with a written or ad lib solo along with a tenor solo. The flugelhorn solo range is up to an optional written high C, but the solo is cued on the 1st tenor part as well. Victor's arrangement brings this contemporary gem within the range of the developing trumpet player without losing any of the hip appeal of the original. Here's a perennially appealing, samba/rock chart that will provide outstanding performance opportunities for your band and soloist! Set in a couple of different feels, this chart is playable by most bands due to fully notated rhythm section parts and reasonable ranges in the brass with written C being the highest note. The ensemble writing is superb and there are solos for both alto saxophone and trumpet. From jazz saxophonist Eric Alexander's album, Be Cool, Steve Broidy's Footsteps features a contemporary jazz Latin groove written at a moderate level that will provide a welcome addition to your jazz ensemble repertoire. Included is a drum solo section that could easily be augmented by adding an array of Latin percussion instruments. Lots of great ensemble writing and plenty of solo space for the soloists of choice make this a superlative choice for any performance.
