Here's a great vehicle for teaching
your younger jazz ensemble how to swing. Originally
a blues tune from 1919, this familiar song has become
an often recorded jazz standard. John Berry's
updated version features a comfortable medium
swing tempo, a soli for the sax section, and solid

is a fun shuffle chart in the style of the great big bands
of Buddy Rich or the jump and jive style of Louis
Prima. Set at around 190 bpm, this chart features

expanded instrumentations. There's much contrast
with suggested solos included for alto sax 1, trumpet
1 and trombone 1. The solo opportunities can be
expanded for any wind player and chord sybols are

young players. There is a written or improvised solo for
any trumpet or alto saxophone, and the shout chorus
features a dialogue between the ensemble and drums.
