Rick Stitzel's swinging arrangement skillfully passes the melody from section to section, but features plenty of solid tutti writing as well. First released in 1954, this easy level setting of the song popularized by Glenn Miller in 1939 begins with an 8-bar marcato intro before settling into the familiar medium swing groove. The thematic build is gradual and dramatic: saxes alone; then saxes with trombones; then saxes, trombones and trumpets together, and the finishing shout is loud and strong. All rhythm section parts are fully notated, brass rhythms are very accessible, and no improvisation is required. Peter Blair. Gordon Goodwin composed this great chart to feature Maynard Ferguson and Wayne Bergeron with The Big Phat Band, and now Peter Blair provides an accessible version for young players. Not a trumpet duet feature, it does have a 12-bar written trumpet solo notated for all three trumpet parts for flexibility. Also featured is a nice sax soli and 1st trumpet range to written G on top of the staff. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations. Highly recommended! 10303036 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 40.00 Minnie the Moocherarr. Ralph Ford. Here's the Cab Calloway classic arranged for beginning jazz ensembles.
