A Gordon Goodwin original, this is a bouncy shuffle featuring melodies with big hooks to grab your attention. Shuffles always work great and this one is no exception. "Roll" has solo space for alto, tenor, bari, trumpet and trombone and lead trumpet range to written high F with a G at the end. The percussion part calls for bongos and conga. It's a winner at any concert or festival. The published version is in the key of G. Recorded by the Big Phat Band. From the 1970 Thad Jones Consummation album, this medium tempo "rhythm" swinger has been re- scored by Mike Carubia capturing the essence of the original. A tasty sax soli section and a slightly simplified unison trombone soli section combine to give all sections a chance to shine while the unique "tiptoeing" style of this quality chart is sure to make it a favorite at concerts and festivals for many years to come. Freddie Hubbard's great jazz waltz with the Les Hooper touch is an excellent combination! This chart floats nicely in three with a nice (and unique) shout chorus and lead trumpet range to written high C. In 1959 Art Pepper recorded 12 tunes backed by an 11-piece small band. The Marty Paich charts focused on modern jazz classics including this arrangement of Gerry Mulligan's Walkin' Shoes. This contemporary swinger featured Art Pepper on alto sax and also a solo spot for trumpet. Third trumpet and trombone parts have been included as alternates for the horn in F part. This publication has been edited and engraved from the original score and parts as supplied by Laurie Pepper. This Oliver Nelson chart features alto saxophone and trumpet playing the melody. Lengthy solo sections with exciting backgrounds are featured for both those players. The band also has their turn to wail behind and after the solos. This is a standout arrangement by John Fedchock full of great sectional writing and sophisticated harmonies. It was recorded on Live at Peacock Lane, and is a bright swing tune that features solos for alto saxophone, tenor saxophone and drums, a wonderful shout chorus, and an ending that will knock your socks off! It has been edited to include optional parts for a full big band. Anthropology is a great Charlie Parker tune arranged by Victor Goines, and it's smokin' hot. This is packed with bop lines, section solis, a big shout chorus, solos for piano and tenor sax, and lead trumpet range to written B-flat above the staff. Anthropology is the study of humanity. Featuring a nice and sassy melody, this is the chart people have been wanting to see in print for years! Recorded by the Bill Holman Band on their album Brilliant Corners, this is the great Thelonious Monk tune set in a straight-eighth Latin feel. The solo space is for alto saxophone, trumpet, piano, and drums. There's wonderful ensemble writing throughout, and this Bill Holman classic is a must-have for your band. Alto 1 doubles on soprano.
