That Rainy Day Feeling—Les Aldrich.
That Rainy Day Feeling is a super rock ballad solo
feature for either Tenor Sax or Trumpet/Flugelhorn.
The ranges are modest and the solidly scored
backgrounds will give the soloist a comfortable
setting for their efforts. The exceptionally nice chord
changes make this chart sound more advanced
than it is and will guarantee that your group will
sound great! Check this one out, it's a winner!

88 Basie Street—Sammy Nestico.
Originally written for the Sammy Nestico Dark
Orchid recording and later reprised on A Portrait of
Sammy, this iconic swing chart gives all the solo
work to piano, first in the opening 48 measures,
then again in the middle and ending segments.
In between the band tackles a terrific double
counterpoint chorus and carries a full ensemble
shout chorus. Altos and tenors double on flutes.

Apache—Jerry Lordan/arr. John Berry.
Originally recorded in 1961 by Jorgen Ingmann,
but better known for the 1981 recording by
The Sugarhill Gang, this funky hit remains a
favorite. Feature your drummer or an additional
percussionist (bongos, congas, or timbales) on
this solid chart scored for young jazz bands.
Playable with optional reduced or expanded
instrumentations, it's highly recommended!
10297524 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . E 40.00
Deep—Steve Brown. Feature your drummer
with this original work paying tribute to drummer
Danny D'Imperio, whose experience is "deep"
as he played with Woody Herman, Maynard
Ferguson, Chuck Mangione, the Vanguard
Orchestra and others. Utilizing a bright bebop feel,
this chart was inspired by Victor Feldman's Seven
Steps to Heaven, as recorded by Miles Davis.
It's chocked full of bebop vocabulary and has a
challenging soli that lays well for the saxophones.

Enter Sandman—arr. Roger Holmes.
From heavy metal masters Metallica, this 1991
hit is one your players can really cut loose on.
Arranged here as a feature for guitar, performance
options are provided for bands without guitar. All
of the signature lines are still here for a rockin'
good time!

H
A Gentle Touch—Paul Clark. This just might
be the best laid-back jazz ballad to come along
since Li'l Darlin'! After a short intro, the melody
is played by a quartet made up of your best
players... trumpet, alto, tenor and trombone. The
whole band joins in for some great ensemble work
(with the trumpets never leaving the staff) which
leads to an easy, but very cool written piano solo.
Then more great ensemble and finally the piano
is again featured at the end. The piano part is
completely written out and the right hand has a
single note line throughout. On top of all this, it will
even sound great with reduced instrumentation.
There's nothing high, loud or fast here, but what a
great way to impress an audience by showcasing
your band's ability to play with A Gentle Touch!
Our highest recommendation!

Killer on the Keys—Larry Neeck.
A smokin', rock 'n rollin' romp, Killer on the Keys
features your keyboard player a la Jerry Lee
Lewis, the "Killer" himself. All the riffs and solos
are completely written out, so that your budding
keyboardist will feel right at home with the bluesy
rock 'n roll shuffle style. Although the keys are
featured, this full-sounding arrangement has plenty
of licks for the rest of the band, including a section
for written or improvised solos. Hammering the
ivories, your soloist, band, and audience will find
this is a "killer" of a tune! Highly recommended!

Mr. GK (A Tribute to Gene Krupa)—
Mike Carubia.
Drum features have always
been a big crowd pleaser in the jazz idiom.
This outstanding tribute to the original big band
drum star, Gene Krupa, features a short, written
trumpet solo with plunger, but this exceptional
chart is primarily a drum feature with solid big
band ensemble sections to drive it along. Full of
audience appeal, it's a big band extravaganza set
in the style of the famous Krupa swing tunes of
yesteryear. An optional flute part is included and
the written ranges are: Trumpet 1 to A; Trombone
to G; Alto Sax to E.

Patience—Fred Sturm. This original chart
commissioned and written by Fred Sturm features
drums throughout in this modern swing tune that
winds through many different feels. Utilizing both
brushes and sticks, this wonderful arrangement
features the drummer by providing interplay with
the ensemble and plenty of solo space. This is
a very clever and understated tune with quite
playable ensemble parts and beautiful writing
that will take your band and audiences on an
exhilarating musical journey!

Prayer Meetin'—Matt Harris. Feature a
young pianist with this gospel style ballad. The
solo is entirely notated except for a short section
where the pianist needs to improvise over an
easy 4-bar sequence. The slow, infectious groove
is perpetuated by fully notated rhythm section
parts, trumpets in harmon mutes at times and full
band passages. There's an open solo section for
soloists of choice that is written or improvised.
This chart can be played with a few as 3 saxes, 2
trumpets, 1 trombone, piano, bass and drums, but
is scored for full jazz ensemble instrumentation.

Punta Del Soul—Dave Grusin/
arr. Gordon Goodwin.
Tasty and groovy with
a funky Latin groove, this tune was composed by
Dave Grusin and arranged by Gordon to feature
Dave and guitarist Lee Ritenour on the Big Phat
Band CD, Act Your Age. If you have a piano
player to showcase and a tasty guitar player,
this is a wonderful chart. Not technically difficult,
but dynamics and colors are a key aspect of this
arrangement. Doubles include an optional flute on
2nd alto and optional bass clarinet on bari sax,
but sax parts are provided. As recorded by the Big
Phat Band.

Sing, Sing, Sing—Louis Prima/
arr. Vince Gassi.
Accessible and fun to rehearse
and play, this timeless swing tune contains all the
key ingredients for a real crowd pleaser! It features
the iconic drum pattern as it recurs throughout
and the solid swing style that has become so
familiar over the decades. Other features include
easy brass ranges (with trumpet 1 to written E
top space), a written drum solo and a big shout
chorus as the modulation brings it all home.
Here's a great chart that will be an essential part
of your jazz ensemble library. Optional reduced or
expanded instrumentations.

Six String Shuffle—Scott Stanton.
Has your guitar player been waiting for a chance
to be in the spotlight? Then this cookin' blues
shuffle chart is just what you need! The guitar
helper part includes both a written solo and
a tablature version of the same solo. Solid
background figures by the ensemble give this a
great big sound that will make your budding B.B.
Kings and Eric Claptons sound like superstars!
Highly recommended!

Stompin' at the Savoy—Benny Goodman/
arr. Mike Lewis.
Feature your bass player!
Arranger Mike Lewis has taken this classic
Benny Goodman swing tune and turned it into an
easy, melodic showcase for the bass. Mike also
provides solo space with written solos for 1st
tenor sax and piano. The brass ranges are modest
and the chart really swings from beginning to end!
Don't let the year go by without playing this one
that sounds great with electric or acoustic bass.
Superb chart!
