Vocal Features!
Known for his
collaborations with
vocal legends such as
Frank Sinatra, Ella
Fitzgerald and Linda
Ronstadt, Nelson Riddle provided iconic arrangements for
some of the most famous albums ever. These recordings
featured not only the vocalist, but the best Los Angeles-based
studio musicians. Here are three Riddle charts never before
in print, one for Dean Martin and two for Ella Fitzgerald.
I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me—arr. Nelson Riddle.
In 1960 Dean Martin recorded the album This Time I'm Swingin' with studio
orchestra arrangements supplied by Nelson Riddle. Here is the arrangement of
I Can't Believe That You're in Love with Me as recorded by Martin on that album.
The ensemble gets their chance to shine in a section that swings hard and a
tenor sax solo adds to the spirit of the chart. This arrangement features a full big
band with a string section; however, an optional synthesizer part is included so
that it may be played without the strings. Vocal Key: A-flat.
