Written solos are included for trumpet and tenor sax, and the lead trumpet range is up to written B-flat. A great closer for any concert or festival performance. What a title... what a chart. Rippin' 'n Runnin' is a funky chart at about 176 beats per minute with a classic Gordon Goodwin piano introduction. This chart has solo space for alto 1, tenors 1 and 2, trumpet 4 and trombone 1. The chart has an auxiliary percussion part and the lead trumpet range is to written high F. As recorded by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band on the CD That's How We Roll. Andy Farber's Shag Bag is an exceptional rock chart featuring a very funky groove that jazz bands will enjoy rehearsing and performing. Included are solo sections for alto sax and trumpet that can easily be opened up for additional soloists. The trumpet range goes to written B-flat above the staff and the trombone goes up to F above the staff. Quality ensemble writing provides a big bold sound that will make your jazz band sound hot! 10458688 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 50.00 4 Stan's PlanPaul Baker. Stan's Plan features a rock/fusion groove and is inspired by the harmonies of Stan Kenton's Artistry in Rhythm as interpreted by the Brecker Brothers. After an intensely funky eight bar ensemble intro, the chart settles into a hip fusion groove where the melody unfolds through layered textures. An emphatic ensemble sendoff sets up a screaming heavy metal guitar solo which is followed by a more fusion-based tenor sax solo. The sax section is featured next with commentary from the brass before the melody reappears in high fashion. The ending is a nod to the Kenton band theatrics, with a quote from Artistry in Rhythm's trombone section finale. The trumpet range is to written high D, and the tempo is around 114 bpm. Don't be intimidated by the meter... it's challenging but after a few minutes it feels quite natural and the students will totally groove on it. The melody is stated by 2nd trumpet and 1st alto with solo space for both on easy chord changes. Articulation is critical and the rhythm section may want to spend some quality time together. The lead trumpet range is to written D above the staff. This is a unique but very desirable chart to have in your library. You won't regret playing Whiplash! 10068794 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . MA 55.00 Pop Hits Very Easy 25 or 6 to 4Robert Lamm/arr. Paul Murtha. Recorded by the group Chicago, this signature hit has gone on to become a rock classic.
