Beginning with claps and foot stomps, it builds throughout and features a written alto solo and a lead trumpet range to written B-flat above the staff. Adapted from a chart originally written for the USAF Airmen of Note, this jazz waltz will work for the holidays or any season... it's outstanding! 10277752 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . M 48.00 n God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemenarr. Rich Woolworth. This up-tempo chart mixes Latin and swing styles to provide a unique selection for holiday concerts. Piano and bass start it out and then other sections are layered in to get the intensity flowing. The middle part of the arrangement features written or ad lib solos by alto sax 1 and trumpet 2 while the rest of the band lays down the chords and rhythms to keep the Latin feel. A short drum solo leads back into the melody before the whole band shifts to a swing style and then back to Latin to close it out. 10068823 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . Gordon Goodwin. More accessible than some of his charts, Gordon Goodwin gives this traditional holiday tune a jazz waltz treatment. The features include: a soprano sax lead part (alternate alto 1 part included), a 2nd alto part with flute double (alternate 2nd alto sax only part included) and solo space for soprano sax (or alto), alto 2, and tenor 1. The lead trumpet range is only to a high D. While not recorded by The Big Phat Band, it's a holiday staple for live performances. Bring your trumpets out front and let them herald in the holiday season! This super chart begins with a fanfare that leads into a fun, swinging version of this familiar carol. It's easy to work up, and it's playable with optional limited instrumentations so it will sound fine with as few as 2 trumpets, 3 saxes, 2 trombones and 3 rhythm. After playing through the tune, the trombones, bass and bari sax get a fun riff going. Then the saxes and trumpets "trade twos" over it. This leads up to an effective and exciting key change with the trumpets leading the way to the end. This exceptional take on a holiday classic has no solos. While this chart is a trumpet section feature, they are never asked to play for too long without a break, and with the exception of two Gs, their range stays in the staff. As recorded by the USAF Airmen of Note and arranged by Alan Baylock in the style of Li'l Darlin', this slow swing chart is an ideal selection for the holidays. It features no improvised solos but it has a written trumpet melody solo, lead trumpet range to written G on top of the staff, and it's technically a very easy chart to play. Get the slow groove, and it's a lock! Another superb Baylock arrangement, this chart will be the centerpiece of any holiday performance! Our highest recommendation! This one is based on Hark! The Herald Angels Sing arranged with a swing feel. The features include a written trumpet solo and easy rhythms, ranges and textures, but Mike makes it all sound full. This chart will come together quickly, plus it includes optional, nontraditional jazz band parts. A fun swinger in a jump style, it's loaded with energy, based on the original recording and has been skillfully adapted for the young player. There are no solos, the ranges are modest and a driving bass line makes it move along. To make this chart flexible for all year, the arranger offers two endings: one with a clever and effective modulation to a Jingle Bells quote and one without.
