Ivory. According to Japanese legend, anyone
who folds a thousand origami cranes will be
granted a wish. This song is based on the true
story of a young Japanese girl, Sadako Sasaki,
who became a symbol of peace after the atomic
bomb was dropped near her home in Hiroshima.
"How does a wish get wings? When a child
sings of peace." With the word "peace" in
twenty languages and flute obbligato, this piece
has a message that speaks to everyone, young
and old.
