"A summer night, and you, and paradise, so lovely and so full of grace, above your head, the universe has hung its lights, and I reach out my hand to touch your face..." Garrison Keillor's lovely words are treated with sensitivity and care in this touching piece. Evoking the warmth, longing, and hopefulness of love, the work allows the choir to be driven by the natural rhythm of the poetry in shaping each phrase. The essence of this work, in a world of conflict and violence, is the need for a deep understanding that peace can come from all of us. After the opening phrase, "Look in the eyes of the children, feel the touch of their hands, there is peace," the verse enters, with a full, yet still gentle sound. The refrain is more celebratory, followed by a quiet bridge and an ending which is calm and introspective, much like the opening. 10438974 Two-Part . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 2.10 n There Is Sweet Music Here—Greg Gilpin. Your choir will sound magnificent when they sing this superb setting of the famous text by Alfred, Lord Tennyson. "There is sweet music here that softer falls than petals from blown roses on the grass, or night dews on still waters..." With very modest vocal demands, this is perfect for the young choir, but mature choirs will also appreciate its musicality and depth. Johnson. In this heartfelt setting of Charles Dickens' well- known poem, lyrical melodic lines contrast with lush harmonic refrains, all in easy, accessible ranges for developing voices. The piano accompaniment is very nice, supportive while giving its own voice to the performance. "The pure, the bright, the beautiful that stirred our hearts in youth, the impulses to wordless prayer, the streams of love and truth...these things can never die." 10443547 Three-Part Mixed . . . . . . . . . 1.80 4 Thula Klizeo—Joseph Shabalala/arr.
