Good time swingin' is the best way to describe this medium-easy chart set at around 138 bpm. Whether your ensemble has some experience or is in the developmental stages, this chart is suitable for all performance situations, particularly festivals. All horn sections get to shine, including trumpet and trombone section solis without rhythm, and a sax section soli taking it to a discreet finale. All instruments have interesting parts to play, the parts are well articulated, the ranges are reasonable, and the rhythm section parts are notated with chord symbols provided. Due to the accessible blues progression, everyone is encouraged to get into the spotlight using the provided solo sheets. This is a jazz classic that every band should have in their library. The chart is a swing shuffle played at around 116 bpm and has a very familiar and catchy melody that flows smoothly from section to section. Also featured are written out solos for alto sax 1 and trumpet 2 and a lead trumpet range to written F-sharp top line. Optional parts are included for expanded instrumentation. You may have heard Basie's band play this great Neal Hefti swinger, but this version is very accessible for younger players at around 166 bpm. The features include a written alto sax solo, a great sax soli, and well-notated rhythm section parts. Includes optional wind and vibes part, too! 10452088 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . 46.00 medium 125th Street Blues—Dave Mills. You, your band and your audiences will really enjoy this bright swing chart in a Basie jump-swing style. With a chance to feature your favorite soloists over F blues changes and some great ensemble choruses, this chart swings hard from start to finish. The intro is rhythm section with Basie-style piano fills and the melody is a catchy blues line. Nice chart! 10280567 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 4 Andorian Blues—Rich Woolworth. This up-tempo swing chart is the perfect way to start any concert with a bang. The brass and saxes have some really exciting ensemble choruses between the written or improvised solo sections featuring trumpet and trombone over the blues in B-flat. The drummer gets a chance to get his fill on before the key change and recap of the melody to bring this chart to a climactic finish. Dave Wolpe. This swinger features tenor sax 1 and muted trumpet 2 and is arranged by one of the best, Dave Wolpe. Shane Porter. Your students and audiences will love this burning swing tune made famous by Royal Crown Revue. The groove is set up with a drum solo laying down a Sing, Sing, Sing Krupa feel before the band enters. A trumpet with plunger solo leads into a sax soli section. Next, the trumpet section is featured on a soli section before a half-time feel gives the brass a chance to shine. Returning to the original groove, a written solo for tenor sax heightens the excitement. Finally, there's an open drum solo before the band enters and takes it on home. Pure excitement! 10050989 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . 55.00 I Left My Heart in San Francisco—arr. Quincy Jones. Quincy Jones wrote some incredible arrangements on very popular tunes for the Count Basie Orchestra. As recorded on This Time By Basie, Quincy's arrangement of I Left My Heart in San Francisco features great interplay between the ensemble playing the melody, and the piano with written solo fills. With a tempo around 108 bpm, and a relaxed swing feel, there's also short solo space for tenor saxophone, and the ranges are very moderate. This chart is playable by a lot of bands.
