African Alleluia—Jay Althouse. Bongo and
hand drum accompaniment highlight this intensely
rhythmic African-styled work. The simple "alleluia"
text allows the melodic and rhythmic ideas to take
center stage. With exciting vocal layering, a soaring
descant, and a powerful finish, this really sparkles!

Amazing Grace/Pachelbel's Canon—
arr. Jean Anne Shafferman.
Here is a marvelous
pairing of Amazing Grace with the beloved baroque
classic, Pachelbel's Canon! The baroque canon
accompanies as the voices sing Amazing Grace in
4/4. Opening with unison voices, it flows easily to
rich part writing, closing in inventive counterpoint
with the canon bass line, the Amazing Grace
melody, and a soaring soprano descant "Alleluia."
Inventive and very creative!

Battle Hymn of the Republic—
arr. Peter Wilhousky.
The Wilhousky setting
of this 19th century hymn is possibly the most
heartfelt musical pronouncement of American
patriotism. Divisi sections in all parts are accessible
and still richly expressive with harmonic colors
and sweeping dynamic contrasts. Emotional and
highly effective, it is a truly magnificent setting
that may be performed with band or orchestral
accompaniment. It's also the one chosen most
often by U.S. military ensembles.

Eatnemen Vuelie (Fairest Lord Jesus)—
Frode Fjellheim.
The opening musical number
from the Disney animated feature "Frozen,"
this song is inspired by indigenous Saami and
Norwegian culture, a combination of Saami yoiking
and the Danish Christmas hymn Dejlig er jorden,
or Fairest Lord Jesus, by B.S. Ingemann. Yoik
is a very old vocal tradition among the Saami
people of Scandinavia and Russia, characterized
by short melodic phrases that repeat again and
again, with small variations. With English, German
and Norwegian versions of the text, synthesizer,
percussion and optional male yoik.
