n Cantate Domino—Nancy Hill Cobb. Fresh,
singable melodic lines and a logical ABA-Coda
form make this original work by Nancy Hill
Cobb a perfect choice for any two-part choir. A
pronunciation guide for the Latin is written in
the vocal parts, and performance notes are also
included. The melodies have no difficult leaps
or accidentals, which simplifies teaching, sight-
reading and memorization. Educationally, musically
and compositionally solid. An excellent choice.

cool original is a masterpiece of vocal layering,
a "sound experience" for a cappella voices as
bells. All voices sing together in the middle section
before returning to vocalized bell effects. "Merrily
on high, hear the bells ring. Merrily, the heavens
sing. Merrily on high, hear the bells ring. O'er the
earth, they ding dong ding." Now available for
male choirs with optional accompaniment, this is

l Eatnemen Vuelie (Fairest Lord Jesus)—
Frode Fjellheim. The opening musical number
from the Disney animated feature "Frozen,"
this song is inspired by indigenous Saami and
Norwegian culture, a combination of Saami
yoiking and the Danish Christmas hymn Dejlig er
jorden, or Fairest Lord Jesus, by B.S. Ingemann.
Yoik is a very old vocal tradition among the Saami
people of Scandinavia and Russia, characterized
by short melodic phrases that repeat again and
again, with small variations. With English, German
and Norwegian versions of the text, synthesizer,
percussion and optional male yoik.

John Rutter's engaging melody over a flowing
accompaniment is equally beautiful in either the
SATB or SA treatment. If you haven't already,

fresh perspective on this sacred gem. Scored for
strings, winds, harp (playable on keyboard), and
drums, it includes instrumental lines that are as
lovely as the vocal lines. A perennial favorite, this
is a tasteful blend of text and musical expression.
