Lots of unisons and moderate ranges make Flat Tire Shuffle a perfect introduction to swing style. Idiomatic rhythms and clean rhythm section writing will make this one easy for young jazz bands. This chart features completely flexible instrumentation and is playable by four horns and rhythm section on up to standard jazz ensemble format and beyond. Regardless of the selected instrumentation, it will sound full and complete. Young soloists can improvise using only the notes of the concert Bb mixolydian scale with the provided transposed scale sheet. Any instrument can solo, and the solo section can be repeated as many times as necessary with backgrounds cued as desired. For soloists wishing not to improvise, there is a suggested solo included in all parts. Ultimately flexible and highly recommended!! 10368179 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . .VE 48.00 l Hurricane Season—Troy Andrews/arr. John Wasson. There is short, written-out solo space for trombone and piano, but mostly this chart simply swings its tail off with the entire ensemble from beginning to end! Never has a sad song sounded so happy! Very highly recommended! 10368505 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . MA 48.00 n I Left My Heart in San Francisco—arr. Quincy Jones. Here it is...perhaps the most recognizable swing tune of all time! This incredible transcription is as close as you're going to come to the original (which included clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass). This chart is scored for a standard 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm, but aside from that, it is the original as played by Benny Goodman. Every lick is there, including all the Gene Krupa drum breaks! This chart is a must for every big band's library! 2411486 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . M 58.00 l Struttin' with Some Barbecue—arr. Rick Stitzel. Here's a fresh take on one of the all-time standards of early jazz composed by Lillian Hardin Armstrong and Don Raye, and made famous by Louis Armstrong. There's a hint of old time jazz style mixed in with a more traditional straight- ahead swing feel. Playable with optional reduced or expanded instrumentations, this is a great way to introduce a bit of jazz history with a chart that's also fun to play. 10490303 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . . .
