Mike Kamuf. Arranger Mike Kamuf scored this hip, funky Latin-rock tune for younger players. Ideal for this level, it features three chords, a repetitive groove, catchy melody and a hot bari sax part. There are written solos for tenor sax and trumpet, and the lead trumpet range goes to a top line F with optional G on top of the staff. The strong melody, solid ensemble writing and irresistible Latin groove combine to create a chart that will be a great favorite for years to come. VE 42.00 n Horn of Puente—Gordon Goodwin/arr. Mike Story. Originally composed by Gordon Goodwin for his Big Phat Band, this version is scored at the easy level by Mike Story. This Latin cha-cha is very accessible, with a written trumpet 1 solo, a montuno piano part that's cued in the saxes, an optional auxiliary percussion part, and a vibes part. Mike even included additional percussion parts for some winds to further enhance the Latin groove. Playable with optional reduced and expanded instrumentations. This exciting, up-tempo samba for advancing groups is a great way to spotlight a fabulous trombone section on the familiar chord changes to In a Mellow Tone or Rose Room. The trombones not only play the melody, but also the shout chorus, and each player in the section has changes for soloing.
