This great tune by Cannonball Adderley combines a soulful, straight-eighth groove with a swing feel at a tempo anywhere from 138 to 160 beats per minute. Arranger Mike Kamuf delivers another great chart that is super-fun to play, easy to rehearse and very effective. Features include written or ad lib solos for alto 1 and trumpet 2, lead trumpet range to written G, well notated rhythm section parts, and a killer shout chorus. It's a terrific chart! Our highest recommendation! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10277611 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 44.00 n Saint Louis BluesW.C Handy/arr. Mike Collins- Dowden. This very playable rendition of the early blues classic opens with a sultry trumpet solo and then breaks into a medium tempo shuffle with a call and response section between the solo trumpet and ensemble. Also featured are a nice sax section soli, an open solo section on everybody's favorite Bb blues changes, and a break strain. Nice chart without being difficult! 10094904 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 n Salt PeanutsGillespie & Clarke/arr. Mark Taylor. Playing jazz should be fun and this carefully constructed arrangement for younger players will certainly add the "fun" element! Alto and trumpet take the melody at the top, then the rest of the band joins in for a lively, swingin' romp! Here's a great introduction to this revered standard! 2481662 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 4 ScootTim Fisher. Rich Woolworth's bluesy medium-tempo shuffle chart is the perfect tune for developing ensembles to pay their dues on the blues in F. There's ad lib solo space for alto, tenor, trumpet or trombone that features a big ensemble build up to the solo to give the soloists some extra confidence. Next the tune goes through a nice ensemble section featuring unison rhythms throughout the band with short piano solo licks in between. With limited ranges (the lead trumpet never goes above F-sharp), limited brass instrumentation (three trumpets and three trombones), and easy rhythms, this chart is great for almost any performance. Additional features include a modulation and nice dynamic contrasts. Scoot swings hard in an uncomplicated way! 10517431 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 n The Second Time Around (Edited Version) arr. Billy Byers. Much like the arrangements of Quincy Jones, Billy Byers provided the Basie band with some of their best music ever recorded. From their album Frankly Speaking: Count Basie Plays the Hits of Frank Sinatra, Byers' arrangement of The Second Time Around is a slow swingin' masterpiece. This is a great dynamic chart that will stretch the group to play both very loud and very soft, and is definitely an all-time favorite. In this edited version, the high brass parts have been eliminated, the trumpet and piano solos have been written out, and the rhythm section parts are fully notated. Every band should have this in their library! 10455884 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 Shiny StockingsFrank Foster/arr. Sammy Nestico. Adapted from the version he penned for The Count Basie Orchestra, Sammy Nestico brings the signature style and familiar strains to this fabulous version for developing bands. The solo spots for piano are completely notated and the tutti writing for full ensemble is the best there is! 10052540 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H Sing, Sing, SingLouie Prima/arr. Victor Lopez. Yep, this is the Sing, Sing, Sing you know and love, made famous by Gene Krupa and the Benny Goodman Orchestra, only arranged for young players by Victor Lopez. The classic drum solo that can be opened up for as much excitement as the crowd can stand, along with a written-out tenor solo, reasonable brass ranges and lots of meaty ensembles keep this great chart exciting. It will also sound full with reduced instrumentation or with the optional, non-jazz band parts. It's still a showstopper! Highly recommended! 2702806 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 46.00 n Six String ShuffleScott Stanton. Has your guitar player been waiting for a chance to be in the spotlight? Kings and Eric Claptons sound like superstars! Highly recommended! 2478481 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 SolarMiles Davis/arr. Rick Stitzel. One of the most enduring compositions from Miles Davis' early career is this medium swing tune recorded on the 1954 album Walkin'. Rick Stitzel uses some nifty phrase extensions in the beginning, then alternates the full ensemble with statements by a small group in this terrific chart for younger players. The solo space is for trumpet and tenor sax with suggested solos and chord/scale sheets in all keys included. 10297515 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 South Street BluesJeff Jarvis. Although this piece is not usually associated with jazz bands, this arrangement works so well it can appropriately be included in any jazz concert. It's also invaluable to have in the files for those "emergency" situations where a jazz group is called upon to perform our National Anthem. It includes just the right elements to give it a jazz flavor, yet maintains the dignity and reverence of the original. While it is harmonically jazzy, it is rhythmically traditional and can serve as accompaniment for audience singing. It is also playable with reduced instrumentation. If your jazz ensemble plays for basketball games, this is perfect. A wise investment for all jazz programs! Highly recommended! 10050282 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Stompin' at the SavoyBenny Goodman/arr. Mike Lewis. Feature your bass player!
