Arranged by Greg Yasinitsky and scored at an accessible level, this chart has all the ingredients you expect plus a few short section solis and an ensemble shout chorus. This arrangement stays very close to the original, yet is more accessible for developing groups. Other features include a written solo for 2nd trumpet with the lead trumpet range to written A above the staff. This Basie classic belongs in every jazz library! Highly recommended! Optional expanded instrumentation. 10071900 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 H Sing, Sing, SingLouis Prima/trans. Mike Lewis. Here it is...perhaps the most recognizable swing tune of all time! This incredible transcription is as close as you're going to come to the original (which included clarinet and less than a full compliment of brass). This chart is scored for a standard 5 saxes, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones and rhythm, but aside from that, it is the original as played by Benny Goodman. Bryan Kidd. Experience this hard-bop style work that really gets things kickin'. The saxes open with the famous head and this chart has been made more accessible, yet remains true to the original. There are a wealth of performance suggestions included to make this chart work at many ability levels. Containing all the elements of Horace Silver's original tune, this arrangement can be opened up to feature more soloists than just the tenor (provided with a written solo and changes). For years, directors have been waiting for the release of the original Basie version of this great blues classic. It's full of Sammy's unique ensemble writing and has plenty of room for blues solos. 2185155 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 n Stan's the ManDominic Spera. Stan's the Man is an outstanding tribute to the great Stan Kenton and his bands. From the opening written piano solo to the classic big Kenton-ish ending, this fine chart allows for plenty of solo space for soloists of choice. The ranges are not really extreme, but the lead trumpet needs to be strong up to high C and the lead trombone goes up to A above the staff. Great music from a terrific composer paying tribute to another great composer. Great festival chart! 2379956 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 38.00 Star EyesGene DePaul/arr. Dave Wolpe. This is an outstanding, swingin' chart from master arranger Dave Wolpe on this Gene DePaul classic! It's a great tune set at around 152 bpm, with fat ensemble voicings, nice solis, written solos for trumpet 2 and piano, and optional wind and vibes parts for expanded instrumentations. What's not to like? 10452112 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 4 Stompin' at the Savoyarr. Greg Yasinitsky. After the initial statement, Greg Yasinitsky gives this Benny Goodman treasure an updated and contemporary flair while remaining true to the original. It's all there in this exciting chart... nice dynamic contrasts, a stop-time section, a sax section soli, ensemble interludes, a written or improvised trumpet 2 solo, and it's all played around 168 bpm. The lead trumpet range is to written B-flat above the staff and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations. Solid with proven appeal! 10513990 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 Summertime (from "Porgy and Bess") George Gershwin/arr. Dave Rivello. This medium swing trumpet solo feature contains tons of jazz substance! Arranger Dave Rivello captures the distinctive "Miles Davis-Harmon Mute" sound in this outstanding chart that features both the band and soloist "a la Miles." The 2nd trumpet solo part goes to written F on the top line, and the lead trumpet goes to written A. Sammy Nestico wrote this classic chart for the Count Basie Orchestra and it was recorded on the album Basie - Straight Ahead. An approachable chart for advancing groups, this minor blues outing features attractive chord changes and a brilliant finale. Classic Basie! 546390 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 52.00 n Take FivePaul Desmond/arr. Rich DeRosa. Perhaps the most famous time chart of all, Take Five is in 5/4 but the rhythmic pattern is clear and consistent throughout. You'll find this arrangement very accessible with easy alto sax and drum solos, plus modest brass ranges. This chart features a more laid-back style than the original and is sure to be just as important today as was in the 1960s. This very special, historic publication is an exact transcription of the 1941 version recorded by Duke Ellington. Set in a medium swing style, this chart for small band opens with a duet of trumpet and baritone sax on the iconic melody. The rest of the ensemble provides the accompaniment, then a tutti shout chorus follows the solo section. The solo spaces are for tenor and trumpet with suggested solos and chord/scale sheets included. Also included is a powerful Baylock-style shout chorus and optional parts for expanded instrumentations. This jazz classic was penned by tenor saxophone great Hank Mobley. Perfect as an opener or closer for any performance, this up- tempo swing chart is solid from beginning to end! Highly recommended! 10283038 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 n Told Ya SoGordon Goodwin. More accessible than most Gordon Goodwin charts, Told Ya So is a medium-swing modal original. The tempo is around 140 bpm, there's a flexible solo section that has written solos provided for flute (optional), alto 1, tenor 1, bari, trumpet 3 and trombone 1. The lead trumpet range is to written B above the staff and optional parts are included for expanded instrumentations. It's relaxed and kinda laid back, but still has the Goodwin intensity. A fun-to-play, more accessible Goodwin chart! Highly recommended! 10355628 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 4 Unit 7Sam Jones/arr. Rich Sigler. This great tune as arranged by Rich Sigler just feels good all the time! The nice, swingin' groove happens immediately, and the backgrounds on the second half of the chorus provide very cool transitions and contrasts. Played at around 150 bpm, it includes a suggested or ad lib alto solo, a big shout chorus and a hint of Stan Kenton too. Optional parts for expanded instrumentations are included. Highly recommended! 10513897 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 46.00 n Walk, Don't Runarr. Quincy Jones. If you want a chart that swings, this is it! This incredible arrangement by Quincy Jones was recorded by the great Count Basie Orchestra on their album This Time By Basie. It's set as a medium-up swing chart and has amazing ensemble writing with very playable rhythms and ranges. There's ad lib solo space for tenor saxophone and a written piano solo. The arrangement culminates in a smokin' shout chorus, with drum solo fills, before taking it to the end. Straight from the Basie book, this is a must-have for your jazz band library! 10368516 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 48.00 4 A Waste of RationsNeil Yorke-Slader. A unique march-like intro leads to a medium tempo, good time, saucy swing style in this fun and light-hearted chart. The format is 12-bar blues and there's an open solo section with chords provided. The saxes carry the first chorus with nice brass hits leading into the solo section. There's a highly effective stop- time a cappella section, plus short drum breaks at the end. The rhythm section parts are fully notated and the brass ranges are C6 for trumpet and F4 for trombone. Sammy Nestico's interpretation of this great old tune is right on target for today's jazz ensembles, with all the class we have come to expect from this master arranger! Written in a relaxed swing style, this chart features lots of tutti ensemble writing, very melodic counter melodies, and also a wonderful sax soli. No solos required. 2259943 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 n West Coast BluesWes Montgomery/arr. Kris Berg. With a solid 3/4 foundation, this iconic Wes Montgomery blues tune receives the full treatment by arranger Kris Berg. It's fun to play and hear, has written or ad lib solos for alto 1 and trumpet 2, and includes an optional flute double for alto 2 for an authentic sound. If Nat Adderley could hear this chart on his iconic jazz standard, he would be pleased! The first statement stays very close to the original, which is a good thing. The solos are for written or improvised alto and trumpet, and the solo backgrounds are simply wonderful. This swinger plays well at about 176 bmp, has excellent full-ensemble passages, a bari sax and rhythm section break before the last chorus, an exciting shout chorus, and great development.
