This chart is simply about style! And with style is
exactly how Count Basie and his orchestra played
it! From the silky smooth sax soli on the head to
the Pop Goes The Weasel trumpet solo to the
"...one more time..." repeat of the last phrase,
every detail of this jazz standard has been
transcribed and reconstructed by Jeff Hest.

what swing is really all about!

Artistry in RhythmStan Kenton/arr. Paul
Murtha. Composed and recorded by Stan Kenton in
the 1940s, Artistry in Rhythm became his signature
and a true classic from the big-band era. Paul
Murtha has skillfully adapted and truncated this for
younger players while maintaining the flavor and
energy of the original. Solo piano starts things off
followed by the iconic trombone solo in the medium
Latin section. The exciting double time swing section
features the entire ensemble, then the maestoso
theme returns to close things out. Impressive!

This chart is way up on the "fun meter!" Mike's

C-Jam BluesDuke Ellington/arr. Mark Taylor.
Here is a new and creative new take on this Duke
Ellington favorite set in a New Orleans street beat

The rest of the ensemble enters with a counterline
before the full ensemble launches the solo section
which is designed to feature any number of soloists.
Unique and effective!

harmon mutes at times and full band passages. There's an open solo section
for soloists of choice that is written or improvised. This chart can be played
