This laid-back rock version of the traditional Christmas carol God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen is great for a holiday concert. All the rhythm section parts are fully notated so your group can create the feel necessary to play this chart with success. The piano player can have fun with the rock organ stop on the digital piano and all the fills can be played as is or ad libbed. There are also suggested solo parts for the solo section. The chart is structured so that it can be played with any 4-, 5- or 6-horn ensemble plus rhythm section. Additional horn parts are included so it can be played with virtually any combination of horns. 10454515 Flexible Instrumentation . . . . . ME 40.00 n Chrysanthemum—Bob Turner. This up tempo swinger set at around 160 bpm features flexible instrumentation and can be played by a 4, 5 or 6 horn small group and includes 15 different horn parts so it can be played by virtually any horn combination plus rhythm section. The rhythm section parts are written out so players can find a nice groove by simply playing the parts as written. With a dramatic melody and minor/ modal sound, Cienfuegos (One Hundred Fires) is a medium level, flexible instrumentation Latin combo chart in 12/8. It can be played with 4, 5 or 6 players in the horn section and includes many additional parts so the horn parts can be mixed and matched for ultimate flexibility. 15 parts in all. Clair de Lune is a flexible instrumentation combo chart and can be played as a four-, five- or six-horn arrangement. Adequate parts are included so that it can be actually be performed as a big-band chart, or anything in between. Originally composed by Claude Debussy in 1890 for piano, this arrangement is a fresh take on one of the most beautiful and often-heard solo piano pieces. The song is constructed on this marginally tonal, but relentlessly rhythmic melody line. Also featured is some seriously groovy drumming. Creative, rhythmic improvisation is the call on this selection, and improvised solos are optional in all parts. Scored for three horns and rhythm, with optional parts included for trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, and all four saxophones. In the skilled hands of Mark Taylor, this medium up-tempo jazz standard from Miles Davis works perfectly in this six horn, little big band format. Carefully using the combination of saxes and brass to full advantage, this one swings hard from start to finish! Included are suggested solos for alto sax and guitar along with chord/scale sheets in all keys. Instrumentation: 3 Saxes; 2 Trumpets, 1 Trombone plus Rhythm Section. In this Little Big Band format, Michael Mossman carefully maintains the medium swing style and flavor of the Miles Davis version, but then adds creative touches with counterlines and harmonic wrinkles. Also included is a flexible solo section and a marvelous tutti chorus for the entire ensemble. Suggested solos are included along with scale/ chord sheets in all keys. A Latin groove with montuno patterns by the rhythm section, this chart really comes alive and stays focused with energy. The tempo is 125 bpm and the brass parts are demanding. Richard Rodgers' familiar tune from the 1930s has become a favorite with jazzers over the years. Here's a wonderfully crafted arrangement in the six-horn format that begins as a relaxed jazz samba, then moves seamlessly into a medium swing groove. Recorded by Weather Report on their landmark album Heavy Weather in 1977, Havona epitomizes the high-energy jazz fusion style of Jaco Pastorius.
