Alan Baylock. Here is an outstanding tenor sax feature chart that was composed by pianist Joey Calderazzo, recorded by the late, great Michael Brecker and arranged by Alan Baylock. A haunting medium swing groove- tenor sax as the melody and the solo space, and lead trumpet range is to written high C. This is one of the nicest minor swing charts we have heard in years! Aside from the outstanding ensemble passages that highlight all sections of the band and wonderful full band ensembles, it has a great bari sax part. After the solo section for alto sax and trombone, it returns to the head and a soft ending. This chart can be programmed anywhere in your set, but could work exceptionally well as an opener. This sultry blues tune by Bobby Timmons was made famous by Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and makes a call and response swinger that should be part of every jazz library. It includes improvised solos for alto, tenor, trumpet or trombone. The ensemble section features some great ensemble writing based on famous solos from classic recordings. Here are classic jazz lines that lay just right for all instruments! Highly recommended! 10517423 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 65.00 H Moanin'Charles Mingus/arr. Andrew Homzy. Here's a playable yet very effective arrangement of this signature Mingus composition. The familiar baritone sax riff is handled by three saxes, and there is also a substantial soli for the entire saxophone section. Optional parts are included for flute, clarinet and French horn. Cleverly, he set this Mancini classic in 4/4 to accommodate the Basie band's iconic style. This is a terrific big band chart that belongs in every library right alongside I Can't Stop Loving You, Nice 'n Easy and I Left My Heart in San Francisco. There's space for a trumpet solo, and the ensemble writing is quite playable by most bands. This is the original version of the classic tune, as performed and recorded by the Count Basie band. Mike Tomaro. Recorded by Miles Davis on his landmark album Birth of the Cool, this jazz standard was composed by Denzil Best using the same chord changes as Count Basie's Jumpin' at the Woodside. This exciting chart features an up- tempo swing style along with a fabulous soli for the saxes. Only arranger Dave Wolpe can make On Green Dolphin Street the ideal address! A combination of swing and Latin feel, suggested solos for alto 1 and tenor 1, a lead trumpet range to written A above the staff, a tasty sax soli and a hot shout chorus make this an impressive chart. Optional parts are included for flute, horn in F, baritone horn/tenor sax and tuba. It's a superb chart you will enjoy for years to come. A classic up-tempo swinger in the Basie tradition, this chart has it all, right down to the classic piano ending. At around 176 bpm, every section gets a workout in this swinging original with lots of call- and-response playing and effective section features throughout. There's a great sax soli section with brass punctuations, written or improvised solos for trumpet 2 and piano, and drum fills highlighting the final shout. A bass pedal point sends it home with a big climax and piano-filled finale. A mysterious and swinging groove sets the mood for intrigue in this atmospheric chart. Imagine spies lurking in the dark, trading secrets. The solo space is reserved for trumpet and guitar. The full ensemble builds to the shout chorus, punctuated by an 8-bar a cappella trombone soli. More shout section follows and then the action tapers down as the actors move back into the shadows of the night. The trumpet range goes to written high C.
