Charles Mingus' signature ballad features altos
and trumpets playing the melody off the top,

is a more accessible version of this lovely tune
that will be a great introduction to the music of

instruments), although super-high Dorsey-esque
chops are not required. The solo is mostly written
with a section of improvising around the melody
