Morten Lauridsen's Nocturnes have enchanted
choirs and directors around the world, and he
has now adapted Sure on This Shining Night,
a movement based on a James Agee poem, for
mixed vocal duet (soprano/mezzo-soprano and
tenor/baritone). In his program notes, Lauridsen
stresses that this setting is to be performed like "a
song from the American musical theater stage."
Soloists will be thrilled by this adaptation of an
already well-loved work.
