NARRATION
We were His twelve...the ones He called His disciples...the ones who left
all to follow this man from Galilee. We saw miracles. We felt forgiveness.
We found mercy. We followed by faith...but not blind faith...faith in One
we knew and touched and loved with all our hearts. So imagine how we
felt when we heard the priests and Pharisees calling for Jesus to be put to
death. Then, as all of Jerusalem thundered with cries of, "Crucify Him!
Crucify Him!" we watched with horror as they led Him up Calvary's hill
to die on a cross...and when He died, our hopes died with Him.
I followed them to the tomb that day and stood at a distance…watching as
Joseph of Arimathaea wrapped His lifeless body in grave clothes and
carriedHim into the tomb. Jesus…so full of light was now enveloped by
darkness…as if swallowed by the very earth His Father created. A massive
stone was rolled in front of his tomb, then sealed shut and guarded at
Pilate's command. But on the third day, as Mary Magdalene, and the
other Mary, went to see the sepulchre, an angel of The Lord descended
from heaven and rolled the stone away saying, "He is not here! He is risen
as He said! Go and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead!"
As He cried, "Father forgive them for they know not what they do" I
suddenly recalled the words of the prophet Isaiah..."He was wounded
for our transgressions...He was bruised for our iniquity...the chastisement
of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed."
THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING
HOW CAN IT BE
ALIVE AGAIN
After His resurrection Jesus appeared twelve different times to
more than five-hundred eyewitnesses...in many places over the
following forty days. He was indeed alive again! And knowing
that death had no more hold on those who believe, His followers
boldly took the good news of Christ to the far reaches of their
world...willing to die...assured that they too would live again.
