musical tribute inspired by the beautiful and
peaceful gardens of heroes lost and fallen. A solo
trumpet begins, conjuring memories of conflicts
present and past, which is followed with a beautiful
hymn statement paying homage to those that have
made the ultimate sacrifice. A bold and aggressive
statement ensues, representative of campaigns on
continents around the globe. Suitable for festival
performance, it also includes an optional narrator

n Sun CyclesBrian Balmages. The essence of
the Egyptian sun god Ra is heard in this intriguing
programmatic piece. The opening section,
"Sunrise," represents the beginning of a new day.
The music becomes more vibrant as Ra is reborn
and emerges as the sun. "Journey through the
Sky," the second portion, takes the listener on Ra's
daily excursion as he flies through the sky to a lively
and dance-like theme. The music turns darker
and more subdued as Ra makes his descent into
the "Underworld." Finally the piece leads to the
"Renewal," which completes the full cycle of the
sun god's day. Captivating!
