Vocal Development & Sight Singing
n Patterns of SoundJoyce Eilers & Emily Crocker. This is a
powerful, effective sight-reading method for elementary and early
middle school treble voices. The concepts of rhythm and pitch are
introduced separately at the beginning, but always within the context
of measures so that exercises are musically interesting. Exercises
that illustrate and reinforce each concept are combinable, so
harmonic interest is introduced at an early stage, building rhythmic
independence and better intonation. The result...painless part
singing. One of the most important features of this method is the
inclusion of actual songs, arranged with accompaniments, words
and dynamics. The logical sequencing and careful reinforcement of
musical concepts lead naturally to a broad musical understanding.
Student confidence levels stay high because they really understand
what they are doing.
