This dramatic piece for string orchestra is built around original themes and traditional Irish tunes. It imagines a journey to, and celebration at, an outdoor harvest festival in rural Ireland. The first section is pastoral in nature, comprising sweeping lyrical music that builds to its close. The second section is a circle dance in a series of increasingly fast variations on a peasant dance theme. 10592917 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 50.00 H Blue Fire FiddlerSoon Hee Newbold. Energetic, exciting and fun, are the words that best describe this kickin' fiddle tune. This fast and furious fiddling piece sounds much harder than it really is. Riffs, finger patterns and bowings are very idiomatic and lend themselves to fast playing. This is sure to be the hit of the concert! 2474322 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 50.00 H Blue RhythmicoKirt N. Mosier. Like the title implies, there's a powerful rhythm and some jazzy blue notes, nothing subtle here! This original uses guitar-like riffs and a driving ostinato bass line in the low strings to build up to a powerful sound. 2481200 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00 BluebellYukiko Nishimura. This heart-warming composition exudes emotion and musical depth. A perfect way to improve the musicianship and sensitivity of young ensembles. 10457535 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 50.00 BoreasTodd Parrish. In Greek mythology, Boreas is the cold, north wind, making this piece a great addition to any winter concert! The mysterious opening leads to an exciting finale. Students will experience spiccato and legato bowing styles, multiple down bows, and key changes. 10453642 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 48.00 n CarpathiaWilliam Owens. Against time and hope, the RMS Carpathia's historic rescue of survivors of the Titanic disaster is illustrated in this daring work by William Owens. Players craft the dramatic odyssey and sounds effects from the distress call and daring rescue, to the mournful hymn for those who perished. A bold and bittersweet nautical tribute! 10277867 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Carpe DiemRichard Meyer. Full of energy and excitement, this overture makes the perfect concert opener or closer. Tuneful melodies and shifting moods explore a wide variety of string playing techniques, while the colorful orchestration gives every section a chance in the spotlight. This A B A work opens with a high-spirited main theme followed by a more lyrical second theme. The contrasting middle section is a tender lullaby introduced first by solo violin, and then taken up with great emotion by the entire ensemble. The opening section returns, refreshingly re- orchestrated for added interest. The piece ends in a flurry of excitement. Playable by middle- level groups but definitely mature enough for the advanced string orchestra. 10027605 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 56.00 CatharsisAmy Cann/arr. Phillips. One of the most popular contemporary fiddle tunes - many notable artists, including Natalie McMaster, have performed this piece. Like the underscore of an international spy movie, this piece promises drama from the opening bar. The evocative harmonies, plus tight moving lines and syncopated rhythms, immediately catch the ear. Pulsating eighth-note patterns drive the piece all the way through to the spirited conclusion. Sure to have everyone on the edge of their seat. 10278001 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 50.00 ConquistadorDeborah Baker Monday. A dramatic work with a hint of romance, Conquistador! depicts the life and adventures of the Spanish explorers. Rhythmic motives in A minor provide a glimpse into life on the trail, and the softer, lyrical section depicts a quiet night under the stars. It's a great way to bring history into the music rehearsal! 2703086 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 62.00 H Contrasts in E MinorFrancis Feese. This unique and interesting work is divided into three sections. It begins with a catchy, "spy-sounding" opening theme, which is contrasted with an emotional slower section, and ends with an exciting 6/8 time signature galop that features the lower strings. It is standard string orchestra literature that comes highly recommended for intermediate level groups. 2136216 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00 H CreaturesBrian Balmages. It's great for year-round use, but would be especially scary at Halloween. The composer describes it as "a dark and sinister night full of strange happenings and ghoulish encounters." Opening with a menacing march as creatures emerge from the darkness, dissonances soon appear in upper strings, including the chance to play any pitch in the chaos! Finally the audience hears footsteps in retreat from the coming dawn. 10027353 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Curse of the Rosin Eating ZombiesRichard Meyer. It had to happen! Richard Meyer's wildly successful Rosin Eating Zombies From Outer Space created an insatiable hunger for more of the same! It seems that string players (and directors) love to get a chance to: Give blood curdling screams; knock on their instruments, bow behind the bridge for that "psycho sound"; use pizzicato, tremolo, trills, make munching noises and talk like zombies! Detailed directions are given for the faint of heart. Keep string playing fun; choose this highly recommended winner! 2472802 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 56.00 n Dance of IscariotKirt Mosier. A rhythmically- charged composition for students. All parts playable in first position. 2382380 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 48.00 n Danse InfernaleElliot Del Borgo. Starting off as a driving modal work, the "Infernal Dance" soon turns to a warm cantabile middle section, giving your strings a chance to show their flexibility. Del Borgo uses string sonorities such as harmonics, mutes, basic third position, and more to get the most out of your orchestra. 2474323 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Dark AdventureRalph Ford. It's ghostly! It's creepy! Your orchestra will love it! From the driving opening motives to the quirky gypsy-sounding theme, this is haunted-house music at its best! You can play this with either full or string orchestra, but the percussion section is really vital and should be used in both cases. This is recommended and will thrill and delight your audience! A winner! 2466837 String Orch or Full Orch . . . 59.00 l DawningM.L. Daniels. Inspired by a beautiful sunrise with a few clouds drifting slowly across the sun. Emphasis on accents and tight ensemble playing will make this a class favorite! 10091950 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 40.00 DragonflyDoug Spata. Like a dragonfly flitting through the air, sixteenth-note runs dart across shifting meters, passing between sections before landing firmly. The accompaniment buzzes with intensity as dark themes emerge from the lower voices (reaching down to the C strings of the cellos and violas) and settle into a languid glide, only to fly again into a furious conclusion. Precision, musicianship, and ensemble skills are at the forefront of this exhilarating G minor selection. Sure to dazzle audiences and young musicians alike! 10370544 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 49.00 n Electric SinfoniaLauren Bernofsky. Hop onboard with this red-hot piece that includes hints of rock music. Musicians hit the ground running as aggressive lines contrast with longer, sweeping phrases. The lush harmonies and rich moving lines combine to create an almost cinematic retelling of the dream. 10604723 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 65.00 H The Evil Eye and the Hideous HeartAlan Lee Silva. Based on the classic Edgar Allan Poe short story "The Tell-Tale Heart," this work is reminiscent of a classic Hollywood horror movie theme. The piano and optional harp and percussion parts punctuate the tension and suspense that is felt from the first note to the last. A real thriller! 10093787 String Orchestra, Percussion Opt. . . . . . . . . . 55.00 Fantasia on a Theme from ThailandRichard Meyer. This captivating work is a set of variations on the Pong Lang Dance, one of Thailand's most popular melodies. The pong lang is a suspended vertical wooden xylophone whose keys are arranged upside down, with the low notes on the upper end and the high notes at the bottom. The melody uses the pentatonic scale and is very simple in nature. The variations expand on fragments of the original tune in a variety of tempi and styles that make each new change thrilling! After this exploration, the original melody returns, gradually gaining speed and energy as one would hear in a traditional performance of this dance. 10015211 String Orchestra . . . . . . . . . 48.00 H Fantasia on an Original ThemeJoseph Phillips. This is a poignant and distinctively Irish- flavored fantasia in a cantabile style. Violists will love the opening soli introduction that is quite beautiful.
