Arranged for the WDR Big Band (Germany), Richard DeRosa has written a beautiful masterpiece on this traditional Christmas favorite. Scored as a full ensemble chorale, this moving piece is filled with fluid cantabile lines, engaging counterpoint, lush harmonies, interesting modulations and gorgeous ensemble climaxes. The use of the rhythm section is kept to a minimum, with only bass and drums/ triangle, as the focus is on a pure chorale sound. Soaring trumpets glide this Christmas favorite to a pleasing finale. DeRosa's interpretation of Adeste Fideles is a fantastic addition to any holiday concert program, and will surely stun and move your audiences with its allure. 10519910 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . M 48.00 Angels We Have Heard on High—arr. Richard DeRosa. Set as a bright swinger at about 200 bpm, and originally arranged for the WDR Big Band (Germany), Richard DeRosa's arrangement of the traditional Christmas song Angels We Have Heard on High is an adventure from beginning to end! Reminiscent of Neil Hefti's arrangement of Cute for the Count Basie Orchestra, DeRosa starts off with some interplay between the wind melody and drums. There's solo space for drums and piano or guitar, and the lead saxophone is on soprano. Replace the first "Gloria" section with a great bebop sax soli and this arrangement already has audiences waiting to hear what comes next. Inventive and creative! 10519912 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . MA 57.00 4e The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire)—arr. Mark Taylor. One of the most iconic holiday tunes of all time, The Christmas Song as composed by Mel Torme and Robert Wells is treated here in a masterfully constructed setting featuring a flugelhorn soloist. In a traditional ballad style, this arrangement features tasteful accompaniment figures, creative harmonies, and brief interludes of double-time swing in the solo section. 10617888 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . M 50.00 Deck the Halls—arr. Ted Blumenthal. This creative, funk style chart of the traditional Christmas carol is featured on The Adventures In Jazz Orchestra Celebrates Christmas CD. As the arranger puts it, this is a party song and the party has a really rockin' big band, making it one you won't want to miss! 2475298 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . MA 56.00 He Go Tell It on the Mountain—arr. Alan Bay- lock. A creative and outstanding chart by Alan Baylock on the traditional spiritual. Beginning with claps and foot stomps, it builds throughout and features a written alto solo and a lead trumpet range to written B-flat above the staff. Adapted from a chart originally written for the USAF Airmen of Note, this jazz waltz will work for the holidays or any season...it's outstanding! 10277752 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 4 God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen—arr. Rich DeRosa. Rich DeRosa provides yet another wonderful Christmas arrangement to the big- band repertoire. This delightful contemporary setting of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen has a moderate samba feel and features the soprano saxophone throughout. Originally arranged for the WDR big band (Germany), this chart has very reasonable brass ranges, an optional brief piccolo double for alto sax 2, and some solo space for drums. Highly recommended! 10607213 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . MA 60.00 e Greensleeves (What Child is This?)—arr. Greg Yasinitsky. Greensleeves begins as a jazz waltz with baritone sax, piano, and bass laying down the groove and later goes on to introduce a contrasting swing section with a written-out solo for tenor sax. The lead trumpet range is to written A above the staff. This will be a superb crowd pleaser for your holiday concert! 10011957 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 He Hark! The Herald Angels Sing—arr. Gordon Goodwin. More accessible than some of his charts, Gordon Goodwin gives this traditional holiday tune a jazz waltz treatment. The features include: a soprano sax lead part (alternate alto 1 part included), a 2nd alto part with flute double (alternate 2nd alto sax only part included) and solo space for soprano sax (or alto), alto 2, and tenor 1. The lead trumpet range is only to a high D. While not recorded by The Big Phat Band, it's a holiday staple for live performances. Here's holiday programming in true big band jazz style! 10311465 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . MA 70.00 He Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!—Jule Styne/arr. Alan Baylock. This swinging holiday arrangement is a slightly easier version of the chart that Alan Baylock did for the USAF Airmen of Note. It features the saxes in a "four brothers" setting with written solo space provided for each of the five saxes if desired. The lead trumpet range is to written B above the staff and there are parts included for optional expanded instrumentations. Here's a Christmas chart with substance! 10311437 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . M 52.00 He Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!—Jule Styne/arr. Gordon Goodwin. In the style of Basie and Hefti, this Gordon Goodwin adaptation of the wonderful holiday classic is set in a medium swing style. Not a drum showcase, but the drummer has plenty of solo space beginning on brushes, then to sticks as the intensity rises. There is a flute part on second alto (can be omitted) and a percussion part for vibes. The optional solo space is for alto, tenor, trumpet, trombone, and the lead trumpet range is to written high E. A great sax section soli rounds out this excellent chart. This one is so nice, you'll want to play it year 'round! Highly recommended! 10093207 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . .
