4e Composers All Around—Andy Beck & Mark
Burrows. What a fantastic way to teach the
names of famous composers! This ingenious little
piece uses tunes from three traditional rounds to
teach the names of master composers throughout
music history. It's so much fun to sing the names
in rhythm, learning has never been such a
delightful experience! Highly recommended!

4t Connected—Brian Tate. "I am you are me..." This
innovative original uses a clever text and pop-style
music to create an environment of togetherness
among members of the choir. Community - that's
what it's all about. Each vocal part gets its own
statement, and all are sequenced together into a
rollicking chorus, all a cappella, all fun! Complete
with finger snaps and hand claps, this will be a hit
with your high school singers!

4 A Cowboy's Life—Dan Davison. This is the
perfect feature for middle school boys! The lyrics,
based on a poem by James Barton Adams,
glamorize the life of a cowboy while the music
supports the voices and lays down a solid, riding
beat. There are plenty of short solos to go around,
and the simple chorus will produce a full, masculine
sound. "I sleep beneath the star light and I think of
a pretty gal / With the golden hair who is waiting
there at the bars of the home corral."

4 Crawdad Song—arr. John Leavitt. Accessible
voice parts coupled with hand claps and toe taps
help create this lively, energized arrangement of
an American folk song favorite. Call-and-response
phrases with contrary motion and terraced
dynamics provide interesting variety in vocal
textures. Enhance the fun piano accompaniment
by including the xylophone and string bass parts.
This piece is a terrific choice for festivals, fall or
spring concerts, and end-of-year performances.

4 A Day Upon the Sea—Victor C. Johnson.
Of the many sea-themed pieces available for
male voices, this original is definitely one of the
best. It's a vibrant, melodically-driven setting of
a seafaring poem by Allan Cunningham, with
comfortable ranges for both tenor and bass
parts. The stylistic piano part adds solid support
throughout this robust work. Your guys will love
it! "Oh, give to me a flowing sea, and a wind that
follows fast, and fills the white and rustling sail
and bends the gallant mast..."

above the standard fare for three-part mixed
choirs, this is a work of substance for middle
school or high school choirs. With an independent
piano accompaniment, optional cello, a wonderful
boys' part, and a compelling text, it will display
your choir's musicianship in fine style. "Fading
from the light, enveloped in the night, dart
between the stars, don't be seen... Light of the

4 Echo—Tom Shelton. This setting of the Christina
Rossetti poem is a wonderful teaching piece!
The melodic line in the opening section evokes
feelings of beauty, loss and remembrance; the
middle section paints a picture of grief, reality, and
the feeling of life spinning out of control. After the
climax of the middle section, there is a return to a
sense of calm, symbolizing that as time passes,
we are able to come to terms with loss.

4 The Feller from Fortune—arr. Drew Collins.
This superb arrangement of the traditional
Newfoundland folk song paints a vivid picture of
the fishing industry and the culture that evolved
around it. The accompaniment is meant to
emulate the sounds of indigenous instruments,
such as squeezebox, penny whistle, fiddle,
acoustic guitar, and bodhran (or other low-pitched
frame drum). The conductor may add some of
these instruments in lieu of, or in addition to, the
piano accompaniment. Highly recommended!
