Every attempt has been made to supply creative ideas in an easy-to-use format equipping you for each rehearsal and even for performance time. By design, this Leader's Guide for The REAL Christmas Story is user friendly; sized to be accessible, presented in a layout that easy to read and practical in its approach. Contents of this Leader's Guide The contents of this Leader's Guide have been written to enable you, as the director/teacher, to lead your preschoolers with ease. Here is what you will find included in this Leader's Guide: *MUSIC PAGES—The music for each song in this musical is clearly printed for ease in reading by the director and accompanist. Both the melody lines and keyboard accompaniment are printed for use if your performance will be done by live accompaniment. *FULL SCRIPT—The entire script for The REAL Chrismas Story is printed in this Leader's Guide. It is presented in continuous flow format, giving you the script and then each song as they occur within the musical. *TEACHING IDEAS—For every song included in this musical, you will find teaching and performance ideas. These teaching ideas will focus on ways you can teach musical and spiritual concepts, performance suggestions and outreach ideas for your group. How to Use the Leader's Guide The TEACHING IDEAS in this Leader's Guide are truly the driving force in using this resource. Because the Teaching Ideas are presented as directions for each individual song, you have the opportunity to pick and choose one or more activities per song for each rehearsal, thus designing your own Rehearsal Plan. You will find that each Teaching Idea focuses on the teaching of a spiritual concept, a musical element, or a performance suggestion. Arrange your rehearsal time to include a variety of activities and prioritize the activities sequentially so your preschoolers will learn each song with ease and security. We have provided a simple, reproducible page that you may use for making notes and plans for your rehearsals. Because preschool age children are unpredictable and have a relatively short attention span, remember to be flexible in your planning and always be secure in your preparation by having the music well learned, your supplies for each activity gathered ahead of time, and your room or rehearsal space ready before the first child enters. Use the demonstration recording to play as children enter the room. This sound will set the tone and mood in your room and will give the children time to hear the music and memorize the melody and words. 2 Preview Copy
