4 Agnus Dei (Requiem)—Jay Althouse.
This setting of the traditional Agnus Dei Latin text
from the Requiem Mass was specifically written to
honor the memory of the numerous victims of the
senseless mass shooting tragedies of the summer
of 2016. With a very open harmonic texture, almost
a cappella with its minimalist piano accompaniment,
this setting weaves between consonance and
dissonance with simple contrary vocal lines over
an insistent single note that tolls in the piano until
all voices combine in meditative, somber harmony.
This piece will evoke a reflective moment in your
concert or worship setting. A pronunciation guide
and translation are given for the Latin text.

sound their very best in no time at all. "Breathe soft,
ye winds, ye waters, gently flow. Shield her, ye trees,

Jenny—Ryan Kerr & Nick Myers. Fluid vocal
lines and a sensitive text shine in this powerful,
heartfelt recollection of a lost loved one. Perfectly
capturing the essence of love that lives forever, it
is at the same time both touching and haunting.

Kyrie (from "Memorial")—Rene Clausen.
Breathtaking. Exquisite. This powerful prayer
for peace and mercy is sheer beauty. Layers of
sound, color and texture weave seamlessly into an
intricate tapestry of devotion. From the larger work,
"Memorial," written in response to the events of
September 11, 2001, Kyrie is a moving, emotional
plea for peace.

A Lullaby—Ryan Murphy. The poetry of Eugene
Field is captured beautifully in this original work.
The words of the lullaby speak both to a child falling
asleep and to a child who "does not hear his mother's
song." The lilting triple meter and the movement
of the piano accompaniment imitate rocking. Add
the optional strings for a lush effect. "And as I sing,
my sweet, to you, oh, would the lullaby I sing - the
same sweet lullaby he knew while slumbering on this
bosom too - were borne to him on angel's wing! So
hushaby - O hushaby." Highly recommended!

phrase, "O nata lux."
