ADULT CHOIR
LITURGICAL ANTHEMS
Each Winter as the Year Grows Older
arr. Ron Schmoltze.
In this composition, Ron Schmoltze creates a lovely arrangement of
CAROL OF
HOPE that offers hope to all who hear it. Originally written to feature both organ
and piano, this piece is presented in a manner that also can be played by
either instrument on its own. Vocally it only splits into three parts for specific
measures to paint the text. This piece is easily learned yet effective.

Eternal Light
Leo Sowerby/arr. Lyndell Leatherman.
This Leo Sowerby piece was originally composed as an a cappella motet, and
organist/arranger Lyndell Leatherman has added an organ part in true Sowerby
style. The medieval Alcuin text (8th century) is a beautiful prayer appropriate
in any service of worship. Thoughtful, serene and an excellent addition to the
liturgical repertoire.

Agnus Dei Requiem
Jay Althouse.
This setting of the traditional Agnus Dei Latin text from the Requiem Mass
was specifically written to honor the memory of the numerous victims of the
senseless mass shooting tragedies of the summer of 2016. With a very open
harmonic texture, almost a cappella with its minimalist piano accompaniment,
this setting weaves between consonance and dissonance with simple contrary
vocal lines over an insistent single note that tolls in the piano until all voices
combine in meditative, somber harmony. This piece will evoke a reflective
moment in your concert or worship setting. A pronunciation guide and
translation are given for the Latin text.

Creator of the Stars of Night
arr. Allan Mahnke.
A peaceful arrangement of a familiar Advent hymn for SAB, organ or piano, and
optional handbells. The final stanza is sung by the baritones with the women
soaring beautifully above. The handbells are few enough that the singers could
play them and add a lovely color to the piece.
