We All Believe in One True God
arr. Matthew Machemer.
Confess the work of the Triune God in this setting of Luther's catechism hymn
for unison choir, congregation, organ, and two instruments. Using the ancient
chant tune, the hymn concertato begins with a prelude by J.S. Bach arranged
for instruments and organ. Stanza 2 features lovely Baroque writing for
instruments and unison choir. The congregation may join on stanzas 1 and 3.
This arrangement of the Creed is useful for any Sunday.

When Memory Fades
arr. Eric Nelson.
With the well-crafted and comforting text about dementia by Mary Louise
Bringle and the flowing and tender melody by Jayne Southwick Cool,
Eric Nelson has created something deep, rich and thoughtful. The piano
accompaniment is supportive yet simple and light, allowing the text and
elegant choral writing to be always at the fore. Men and women are each given
moments to shine, and the ensemble writing is solid and nuanced. A much-
needed ministry tool.

Make a Joyful Noise to the Lord
Robert A. Hobby.
This setting of Psalm 100 isn't hard to sing but sounds like it is. Part of that
is due to the prominent and exuberant organ accompaniment. The composer
uses a variety of moods to set the text, creating a very satisfying result. The
vocal divisi is minimal, and there are a few short a cappella measures. Joyous
and impeccably crafted!

My Faith, My Hope
Gwyneth Walker.
Based on George Herbert's poem The Call, this original anthem approaches
the text both as a personal expression of faith and as a general statement. The
very tender verse, "Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart" is set in a lower, gentler
key, with sweet dissonance. The music then rises to the original key for a final,
triumphant statement. Beautiful!

My Hope Is Built on Nothing Less
arr. John Ferguson.
Based on the popular hymn tune
MELITA, this work from the sure hands of
John Ferguson expresses trust in God. The text takes on a sturdy sense with
this tune which allows the depth of it to solidly shine through. The arrangement
calls for SATB choir, organ, optional brass, and assembly. Moving and inspiring!
