CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS (in order of appearance) Mr. Southwell A determined teacher who will not be deterred from teaching his lesson plans by something as routine as a fire drill. (19 lines) Marley An emotional and excitable child whose personality has a vulnerable side. (7 lines) Carol A calming and steady influence in the middle of chaos. (10 lines) Mason A humorous boy who is preoccupied with food (or in this case, the lack of food). (11 lines) Bennett A lovable and lighthearted student who uses humor to ease the stress of a fire alarm; shares lunch with classmates. (9 lines) Julia Pessimistic student who has a way of seeing the down side of every situation. (7 lines) Note: All characters have been written to be played by either boy or girl actors SET DESIGN The entire musical takes place outside the school in the parking lot. The set can include items such as parking cones, bike racks, a flagpole, benches, backpacks, etc. Risers can be set at the rear of the center stage for the choir.
