s How Far I'll Go (from "Moana")—Lin-
Manuel Miranda/arr. Ed Lojeski. The show-
stopping ballad from Disney's "Moana!"
Sung in the film by Auli'i Cravalho and
in the pop version by Alessia Cara, this
powerful song offers a superb message of
confidence for choirs of all ages. "See the
line where the sky meets the sea, it calls
me, and no one knows how far it goes. If
the wind in my sail on the sea stays behind
me, one day I'll know if I go. There's just no
telling how far I'll go."

b The Lighthouse—Andy Beck. The title of
this piece, though it never actually appears
in the lyrics, provides an overarching
metaphor for the text. The ebb and flow
of the piano accompaniment represents
a turbulent sea, while the text presents
themes of strength, guidance, and living
by example in this inspirational choral.
Superb voice leading, along with sweeping
musicality and phrasing, make the warm
harmonic twists and turns accessible for
any choir. Expressive and elevating!

c Hey! Ho! Nobody Home!—arr. Russell
Robinson. Dating back to 16th-century
England, Hey! Ho! Nobody Home! was
sung by carolers who went from door
to door to receive food for their singing,
although there is no reference in the lyrics
to the holiday. Presented as a round, this
swing-style syncopated arrangement is
easy to learn and fun to sing! Now available
in a two-part voicing.

c We Will Sing the World Whole Again—
Mark Burrows. This song begins by having
choir members state something hurtful that
has been said to them in an overlapping
texture that shows that we have all been
affected by pain and violence, and yet we
choose to sing. From its opening section
of cacophony to the powerful refrain, this
original song will inspire your singers and
your audience to rise above their hurt and
the violence in our world. "We will rise from
the senseless pain and violence. Fear will
fail and love will win. And a new song will
echo in the silence. We will sing the world
whole again."

Gilpin. "Sometimes they're in the corner,
sometimes they're by the door, sometimes
they're all a-standing in the middle of the
floor..." This child-like poem by Eugene
Field recollects the fear we all had of going
to bed at night and imagining creepy things
in the dark. From the opening whispering
features to the clever articulation through-
out, this unique concert selection is appro-
priate for Halloween or any time of the year

c Ahrirang—arr. Ruth Elaine Schram. An
lovely setting of the beloved Korean folk
song about the mountain pass of Ahrirang
Hill. Sung predominantly in English, the
pentatonic melodies and open harmonies
are presented in unison and canon to
appropriately convey the style of the song
and the depiction of the text. Ahrirang is
often believed to be a symbol of peace,
contentment, and personal triumph. This
makes a wonderful selection to teach the
context and style of music from that region.
