86 NARRATOR 1: He ordered his mightiest soldiers to, NARRATOR 2: "Go! And tie up these men from their head to their toes. We will heat up the furnace and then we will learn If this god they obey likes his offerings burned." The Furnace Song (Replace the lines over measures 66-69 in The Furnace Song with the following narration.) NARRATOR 1: All stared in the furnace with growing alarm, Where four men were walking unbound and unharmed. NARRATOR 2: The people were stunned… NARRATOR 1: --and the king—he was awed, NARRATOR 2: For the fourth one appeared NARRATORS 1 and 2 …as the son of a god! (Replace the lines over measures 81-94 of The Furnace Song with the following narration.) NARRATOR 1: When he saw this miracle The king with trembling shout Called, NARRATOR 2: "Servants of the Most High God, I'm sorry, please come out." NARRATOR 1: And then the king felt in his heart such an ache He confessed: NARRATOR 2: "I have made an appalling mistake. I beg you, forgive me for what I have done, For clearly your God is the only true one" NARRATOR 1: Our heroes replied: "We admit that this sin Will be hard to forgive, for we are but men. But the God that we serve can out-love any man And so by his grace we believe that we can. So pray with us now that all bitterness cease And that we might find hope or a new day of peace."
