Although the keys are featured, this full-sounding arrangement has plenty of licks for the rest of the band, including a section for written or improvised solos. Rich Sigler. This great tune by legendary saxophonist Lester Young makes the perfect jazz chart! Arranger Rich Sigler incorporates some clever musical devices to create an interesting yet accessible chart. This really nice chart also includes very effective writing for all sections of the band as well as written or improvised solo space for alto sax. First recorded by Billy Joel in 1976, this timeless classic was never a hit on the charts, but over the years has become a fan favorite and boasts countless covers from a diverse range of artists including Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Barbra Streisand, The Muppets, and the cast of Glee. Here is a terrific medium swing setting playable by young jazz ensembles that is sure to be a hit with audiences everywhere! 10343804 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 Nostalgia in Times Square—Charles Mingus/ arr. Victor Lopez. Don't miss this jazz standard composed by the legendary Mingus! This tribute to jazz legend Oscar Peterson is a wonderful way to expose developing players to one of the icons of jazz history. Here's a perfect touch of swing era nostalgia with this signature tune from the Glenn Miller Orchestra. All the elements of the original are here in this more accessible version including the famous sax melody, written trumpet and alto solos and, of course, full band vocals. This jazz standard was composed by legendary vibraphonist Milt Jackson and recorded notably by Jackson with Oscar Peterson on the album by the same name. Opening with the theme played by a small group of tenor, trumpet, guitar, and vibes, this great-sounding chart is set in a medium tempo swing style and features terrific scoring for the entire ensemble. With the blues format, this is a perfect vehicle for multiple soloists. Highly recommended! 10775170 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 4 Riggs!—Paul Baker. This chart is a fun tribute to Regents Professor Emeritus, Jim Riggs of the Univerity of North Texas. In the Nestico style, it captures his personality and sense of humor while providing a focus on the saxophone section. The chart begins in the key of F and modulates to B-flat. Written solos are provided for alto sax and trumpet and/or piano, and the trumpet range is to written G on top of the staff. A swinging shout chorus drives to a restatement of the melody before bringing everything to a close with the ensemble. A great sounding chart for an exceptional saxophonist, teacher, and friend. A wonderful teaching and performance vehicle for developing bands! Highly recommended! 10882935 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 45.00 4 River City Blues—Dave Mills. Here's a medium- tempo, blues shuffle chart in B-flat that fits right in the pocket! The features include the rhythm section with an ad lib piano solo setting the mood in the introduction followed by some bluesy riffs in the saxes and then a very cool, laid-back ensemble section before the solos start. The solo section features written or improvised solos for alto, tenor, trumpet or trombone. You'll love this swingin' blues chart that is highly recommended! 10881476 Jazz Ensemble . . . . . . . . . . 50.00 Sack of Woe (Sack O' Woe)—Julian Adderley/ arr. Mike Kamuf. This great tune by Cannonball Adderley combines a soulful, straight-eighth groove with a swing feel at a tempo anywhere from 138 to 160 beats per minute. Arranger Mike Kamuf delivers another great chart that is super-fun to play, easy to rehearse and very effective. Features include written or ad lib solos for alto 1 and trumpet 2, lead trumpet range to written G, well notated rhythm section parts, and a killer shout chorus. It's a terrific chart! This very playable rendition of the early blues classic opens with a sultry trumpet solo and then breaks into a medium tempo shuffle with a call and response section between the solo trumpet and ensemble. Also featured are a nice sax section soli, an open solo section on everybody's favorite Bb blues changes, and a break strain. Using the traditional English folk song as a basis, Paul Murtha found a creative treatment as an up-tempo jazz waltz! With a natural flowing groove, this swinging chart opens with a trio of alto, trumpet and trombone on the main theme. There's also great scoring for the entire ensemble along with suggested or improvised solos for the three featured players. Adapted from the version he penned for The Count Basie Orchestra, Sammy Nestico brings the signature style and familiar strains to this fabulous version for developing bands. Victor Lopez. Yep, this is the Sing, Sing, Sing you know and love, made famous by Gene Krupa and the Benny Goodman Orchestra, only arranged for young players by Victor Lopez. The classic drum solo that can be opened up for as much excitement as the crowd can stand, along with a written-out tenor solo, reasonable brass ranges and lots of meaty ensembles keep this great chart exciting. It will also sound full with reduced instrumentation or with the optional, non-jazz band parts. It's still a showstopper!
